First Democrat to oppose Marine hero 'Mad Dog' Mattis - to let him serve at Pentagon
DM ^

Posted on 12/03/2016 11:55:00 AM PST by traumer

The first Senate Democrat has come out against one of President-elect Donald Trump's more popular cabinet nominees, as Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand of New York says she won't back a special waiver for the general.

'While I deeply respect General Mattis's service, I will oppose a waiver,' Gillibrand said in a statement. 'Civilian control of our military is a fundamental principle of American democracy, and I will not vote for an exception to this rule.'

Mattis' wartime experiences as a 'fighting general' and his intellect have won him strong early reviews from Republicans and Democrats, including Rep. Adam Schiff, the top Democratic on the House Intelligence Committee.

He also is seen as a possible check against some of Trump's instincts. Mattis has publicly criticized Russia, and Trump has credited him with raising persuasive arguments against water-boarding, a harsh interrogation technique the president-elect has said should be brought back.

Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand is the whore who stepped in to fill HRC’s vacant seat in the Senate, fully supported by, and fully owned by Chucky Schumer.

I once met this turd, and believe me, there is not one ounce of integrity to be found there...

Trump/Pence MAGA!

The problem here is the Harry Reid nuclear option.

A simple majority in the Senate is now all that is needed to confirm a Judge or appointee.

No more filibuster power that allows a single Senator to block a nomination.

Elaine Chao likes her job as Transportation Secretary and wants to keep it and her husband Mitch McConnel is just as happy to Trump's bitch as he was being Obama’s bitch as long as gets to keep his powerful job being the biggest turd floating in the Senate turd punch bowl so Trump will get his way in the Senate .

I believe the law creating the Department of Defense specifies eligibility to serve as SECDEF.

That law should be repealed and the War Department and the Department of the Navy should be restored to Cabinet status.

I’m in favor of abolishing the Air Force, but it’s arguable.

Chucky Schumer won't be far behind. How may Americans has obozo's "civilian leadership" in the Pentagon gotten killed?

Oh, that's right, it's hard or impossible to find that number since obozo infrested the WH!

Chucky's afraid he'll suffer 3rd degree testosterone burns if they actually held hearings for General Mattis.

Well the Constitution allows for the Congress to pass these little things called Laws. And there’s a Law that’ been on the books for the last 70 years that does require this:

Yes, but any law must conform to the Constitution.

Trump/Mattis’ first executive decision should be to change the title of DoD back to the War Department. That should make the beltway boobs heads explode.
