‘Jackie’ Review: The Woman and the Myth
The Wall Street Journal ^ | December 1, 2016 | Joe Morgenstern

Posted on 12/02/2016 9:17:17 AM PST by KingofZion

Let’s stipulate right away to a couple of things about “Jackie.” That Natalie Portman’s portrait of Jacqueline Kennedy during and immediately after her husband’s assassination rises above impersonation to an eerie kind of incarnation: She’s got the voice, the look and a devastated spirit that still has plenty of steel. Also, that the film is generation-sensitive. For those who remember exactly where they were when the news came in, some of these blood-soaked images retain the power to evoke astonishingly strong feelings of shock and grief. This is by way of saying I may have seen a different “Jackie” than others will see, one that made me recoil at replayed moments of horror, and sometimes squirm like a voyeur. But Pablo Larraín has made a strangely conflicted film that portrays Jackie as an obsessive mythmaker and keeper of the flame—an ironic, provocative approach—yet celebrates the Camelot myth in the process.

“People say she was grabbing pieces of his brains, but I believe in that like I do the tooth fairy.”

If she wasn’t grabbing pieces of his brain, she definitely was grabbing for a piece of his skull. Google the Zapruder film and watch it. In it you’ll see the impact as a bullet strikes JFK from in front, passes through his head, and emerges from the back, carrying a piece of his skull. Jackie immediately jumps onto the top of the car’s trunk and tries to grab it.

I concur. My critique is not of Jackie, who handled the situation as best as can be expected under the circumstance. But rather of liberal Hollywood’s repeated propaganda efforts to relive the “glory years” of Camelot as part of a never ending crusade to pump up Democrats and liberalism.

Maybe this movie will have been worth doing, since Natalie Portman is a very good actress.

I won't be seeing this movie, since I don't want Natalie to get a penny from me.

Why? Well, lest people forget:

What, you say the pic means nothing?

Well, that image is cropped, here's the original:

This tells me a litter bit more about what she's thinking. And that's why she's on my boycott list.

I can hold a grudge for a long time.

He caused the damn crisis by punking out at the Bay of Pigs and showing up in Vienna in a drugged out weakened looking mess allowing Kruschev to view him as a patsy

He had to give up ever going into Cuba as part of the settlement ensuring their captivity to this day

Allowed Diem to be assassinated in S. Vietnam

And I voted for him Big Mistake

She was in flight mode. Nothing else. Can’t blame her.

The video says there have been several other Jackie movies. Who knew. I missed them so the odds are excellent I’ll not be wasting $$$ to see this one.

The world watched as a stricken Jackie Kennedy crawled over the trunk of the Lincoln the couple were traveling in and reached out. To many, it appeared she was trying to reach out to a Secret Service agent.
In fact, she was grasping for a large piece of her husband’s skull and brain that had landed on the car’s hood.

The President still had a faint pulse when he was admitted to Parkland Hospital. As doctors began administering a massive blood transfusion, Jackie Kennedy, in her blood-and-gore-soaked Chanel suit, handed doctors what she had been cupping in her hands since the shooting: the piece of her husband’s brain.
The doctors tried to force Jackie Kennedy to leave as they worked on her husband, but she refused.

Doctor who treated Kennedy relives final moments

That day, Jones arrived in Trauma Room 1 just as the president was being wheeled in. The 15-square-foot room, which usually saw victims of car accidents or bar brawls, was quickly filling up with Secret Service agents, presidential handlers, doctors and nurses, he said. First lady Jacqueline Kennedy stood in a corner of the room, not crying but looking grim, her husband’s blood still fresh on her pink wool outfit, Jones said. Earlier, when she first arrived at the hospital, she had handed another doctor a section of skull and some brain matter belonging to her husband that she had gathered from the limousine they were riding in, he said.

Here’s pictures. Notice the 2 pieces on the trunk and they disappear as she returns to the seat. Even the article says it again she had pieces in her hand.

I really do admire her, Democrat, Republican or other. Can’t imagine having to go through that kind of trauma.

I can't imagine how our troops cope when their buddies are maimed and killed, many of them. Few of them go on to marry foreign billionaires to get over it.

She still sat next to a man whose head had been blown off and handled it with dignity.

You need to spend a few days at Walter Reed with young men and women who have had limbs, eyes or genitals blown off in order to get past your oversympathy.
