CNN Crew Jokes About Trump Plane Crashing Before Carrier Speech
Free Beacon ^ | 12/2/2016 | Nick Bolger

A CNN crew member joked to reporter Suzanne Malveaux about Donald Trump’s plane crashing as they waited to go live while the president-elect was set to land in Indianapolis on Thursday.

While making final preparations to go on air, an off-camera voice could be heard discussing the estimated arrival time of the Trump plane. The president-elect was traveling to give a speech on the recent decision of Carrier Corp., an air conditioning company, to keep about 1,000 jobs in Indiana that it originally planned to send to Mexico. Carrier made the announcement to keep the jobs in the U.S. after discussions with the incoming Trump administration and the state of Indiana agreeing to give United Technologies, of which Carrier is a part, $7 million in tax breaks.

How low can they go?

How is this different from when Mr. Reagan joked about bombing Russia in 1984?

The left despises this deal. Those dirty rotten folks who presumably voted for Trump get to keep their jobs and it’s all they can do to crap all over it just to keep their snide bulls**t in practice. Really disgusting.

To be clear; I don’t necessarily think this is a great precedent because it is a mild form of cronyism. That said, $7 million for Carrier is about 45 times better than $550 MM for Solyndra, which does not exist any more.

First shot at “bringing jobs back” I am willing to forgive some fudging. Leave it at that. This is chump change. And could start a mini-movement. Carrier might have gotten a few nickels of PR from it, as well, let’s be clear on that. S’OK.

0bama was disgusting about this, too. “How is he gonna bring these jobs back? How? Exactly how? What is his plan? How?”

As if the turdball-in-chief would even have the attention span to hear it out. Oh, by the way, Trump seems to have gotten it done, whether or not Barry understood the plan or not. You know, what’s important is that Barry understands it. Not that it works. Not that it gets the job done.

Reminds me of another Malveaux (Julianne) who wished an early death upon Justice Clarence Thomas ("I hope his wife feeds him lots of eggs and bacon so he has a heart attack and dies").

But again, that was a different Malveaux, the horrid Julianne. As far as I know, Suzanne is innocent.

“How is this different from when Mr. Reagan joked about bombing Russia in 1984?”

In as much as Big Media regards our newly elected president as our country’s main enemy, no difference whatsoever.

Of course, if the same had been said about their god currently president, threats of hate crime prosecution would be well-received by the 52% who allegedly still consider him god, and the producer would have been fired yesterday.

I watched that clip, from a position of someone who has been involved in spot reporting via radio/television. Was it joking? Or was it doing the job of the TV/radio spot-reporting journalist and producer to be prepared for any eventuality?

Nothing messes up live spot reporting like surprises, especially surprises that no one on staff anticipates. When a shocking event occurs, you either have to respond “off the cuff” (which never goes well), or you thought through the possibility (impossibility) beforehand and do a credible job of covering it when it happens.

Joking? No. Covering the bases? Yes.

It’s unfair when people lambaste someone for doing their job right.

Whereas Reagan joked about the evils of Marxism, CNN jokes about the death of an American president elect. Had Fox did that to Obama in December of '08 they would have been immediately fired.

Wow, that video was a stunning example of an infantile tantrum wan’t it?

I’m so glad that it was captured on video.

Anyone who doubts whether genuine evil exists just needs to listen to the far left fringe, which seems to be half of all democrats.

Truthfully I do not see this as true cronyism

Giving some one a tax cut is not cronyism....if it is then Trump juse made everybody his crony promising to cut taxes on the middle class and business yesterday that’s exactly the same thing....the one diffrest is a this it a targeted tax break
.

Cronyism is directly giving Capital to some business directly giving business to a business forgiving tax incentives to the public to buy that business is product

But in Carriers case is not even a federal tax cut it strictly state tax cuts..

So when states like Texas or Florida give a business a tax cut to get them to move from California or New York

Are we saying Texas and Florida are being business cronies...and California the New York are showing integrity by keeping the taxes high on those businesses they’re losing?

If states can poached jobs from each other with tax breaks...states can poached jobs from Mexico with tax breaks

Welcome back to FR.

After reading your defense of Big Media, it was a real eye-opener to read your previous posts, including this gem:

“As for when the server was in Clinton’s house, if the Secret Service was co-located in the house, that speaks for good physical security, too.”

Perhaps in 2020, eh?

Puhleese!! Did you watch the video or are you just bloviating?

Suzanne Malveaux has a big smile on her face during the exchange while laughter is heard (off camera) from the person who made the comment.

It’s unfair when people lambaste someone for doing their job right.

I repeat, Puhleese!

You mistake me for a progressive. I'm a government minimalist. And I like it when government is closest to the local voters. This is the danger of Constitutional "featureitis" that has plagued us for many decades -- the monster grows larger and larger.

As for defending Big Media, no. I'm defending the correct practice of good reporting -- something that was missing from Big Media in this election cycle.

Mis-characterizing the hot-mic event as a "joke" is not acceptable to me. So I call "foul".

That one sentence is the way I’ll explain the Carrier deal to skeptics——thanks.

The LSM sucks!

The real story here is how Trump treated this Carrier deal as a co-equal win-win business deal, not a top down “we’re the government and you have to do what we say” thing as obama handles things.

He’s breaking all the rules and shaking up Washington to the core. There’s never been a man who did the Presidency like Donald Trump is gonna do it!

Missing from this election cycle and the one before that and the one before that and the one before that and the one before that ... .

Where is your head? Oh, don't bother telling me because I know the answer.
