Scores of demonstrators were arrested on Tuesday as U.S. workers from fast-food chains staged nationwide protests for higher pay, union rights and immigration reform in their first major action since Donald Trump was elected president.

McDonald's Corp (MCD.N) restaurants in 340 cities were prime rally targets, while baggage handlers, cabin cleaners and sky caps at Chicago's O'Hare and Boston's Logan international airports planned to demonstrate in support of workers demanding starting pay of $15 per hour, organizers of the "Fight for $15" campaign said.

More than 200 protesters gathered before dawn at Zuccotti Park in New York City's Financial District, the site of a camp set up in 2011 by Occupy Wall Street demonstrators, where they banged drums and chanted slogans.

$15 an hour sounds good... until you work part time and only three days instead of seven - and you take home the same pay you did before.

Idiots.

Did I miss something? Democrats failed these people for 8 years, and now they are blaming Trump for their low wages? Unbelievable

They can and will replace people.

Consumers don’t want to pay more than X dollars for food.

There is limit to how much fast food restaurants can gouge their customers.

$15 is a good way to throw a lot people out of work.

And the sad part? It won’t actually raise their standard of living.

Entry level jobs are for teenagers.

McDonalds made the stupid mistake of hiring adults to do them. And now those adults are demanding a living wage.

McDonalds should go back to hiring high school kids, who need pocket money and not rent money.

The immigrants should go back where they came from if they can’t cut it here. They need an education before they deserve more pay.

If they can’t find a job in their ‘education field’, welcome to America in 2016. Should have stayed where you were.

Someone needs to raise 2 million dollars before 6 PM midnight for a recount in what is certainly a case of media tally fraud.

This is what happens when you bring in millions of unskilled labor from 3rd world hell holes (Mexico).

They actually think a hamburger flipper job is SUPPOSED to be a lifetime job, that pays enough money to raise a family of six.

Send those wetbacks to Mexico where they can protest for higher wages in THEIR OWN COUNTRY!!!!!!!!!!!

Either you increase the price of burger and fries or you reduce hours worked.

Even with Common Core math, the outcome is the same.

McDonald’s I think realized their error. We’ve seen some recent TV ads where they talk about McDonald’s as the world’s best first job.

One of my boys works at Chick-Fil-A. He’s only been there a few months, but he’s proven dependable and they are giving him greater responsibilities. That’s what a first job is all about.

Arby’s has already set up kiosks where you place you own order - that has to eliminate at least one person per store x how ever many shifts they have.

Greatest thing about the $15 an hour morons is its making the fast food industry more innovative, leaner and efficient.

Necessity is the mother of survival.
