“Not as long as he is UNDER ARMS, as long as he is wearing that badge he is UNDER ARMS.”

Wouldn’t that mean the uniform hat? This hat isn’t part of his uniform.
.
He's the head of his department. He determines what is the proper uniform.
Thanks-—I’m learning a lot about hats this evening.

David Clarke would be an incredible pick for the FBI.
But are we sure that, given how amazingly inept and deceitful the press is, Sherrif Clark isn’t being considered for the FBI? Unless one of his reps says otherwise, we can’t trust speculation.
I don’t pretend to know what the uniform requirements of Sheriff Clarke’s department are; but here in California the Highway Patrol’s cover is a Smokey Bear, and my local Sheriff Department’s duty cover is a Silverbelly Stetson felt.
LOL! True that.
My two exact and immediate thoughts as well.
Running a 240,000 person cabinet department is a whole lot different from running a 250 person sheriff’s department. Clarke may be better suited to be a messenger than an administrator.
So only folks that have worked their way up the bureaucracy chain get to be head bureaucrat? Bad advice.
You really think Clarke is the bureaucrat type?
No. That’s why he may actually run the place properly.
