Reince Priebus Suggests Clinton Campaign Backing Off Election-Night Agreement to Concede

(AP) Donald Trump’s incoming chief of staff suggests Hillary Clinton is backing away from a deal worked out between the two presidential campaigns on how the loser would concede to the winner. Reince Priebus tells “Fox News Sunday” that Clinton’s team “cut a deal” with Trump’s team specifying that once The Associated Press called the race in favor of one candidate, the other would call within 15 minutes to concede.

Priebus says that’s just what happened election night.

But now he’s questioning whether Clinton campaign lawyer Marc Elias is backing down from that deal by announcing Clinton will participate in a recount in Wisconsin and may do the same in Michigan and Pennsylvania. The push is being led by the Green Party’s Jill Stein.

AP’s director of media relations, Lauren Easton, says AP “calls races when it is clear that one candidate has prevailed over the other. We have no knowledge of what the candidates do with that information until there is a public claim of victory or a concession.”

An agreement with Hillary isn’t worth the paper it’s printed on, or the pixels, or the breath it takes to say it.

I posted right after her speech that morning that her glowing speech along with Obama’s were totally fake and out of character for both of them. I knew something was up, they had plans already in motion to steal this election from the American people, you can bet on that.

A politician who concedes an election and then later comes back demanding a recount is like a boxer who throws in the towel during a fight and then comes back to punch his opponent in the back of the head.

The boxer would be disqualified from fighting and Hillary should be disqualified from running for public office.

I could sort of understand Gore wanting to retract his concession 15 minutes later, but this??

Why would any of us expect anything different ?? Rats will always do what Rats do, it's in their DNA, they can't help themselves.

We need to hear from Crooked Hillary herself and not from her proxies. If she wants to take back her concession, let her hold a press conference and take the slings and arrows that are going to come with it. Instead, she want to hide in the background and let others do her dirty work.

She is such a weak woman, hiding behind the skirts of her handlers. Couldn't even come out on Election Night to speak to her true believers. I don't think that has ever happened before in the history of modern politics. Even George McGovern, Walter Mondale and Mike Dukakis came out to speak to their supporters when they got landslided.

Trump MUST appoint a special prosecutor to investigate the Clintons.

The democrats got their but kicked because they’ve never given a dsmn about what the people want. The recount proves they haven’t learned anything

If you like your president elect, you can keep your president elect.

Not.

If she really pursues this in the courts then when she loses it should be open season on investigations into the Clinton foundation. I assume Obama will issue a blanket pardon for her on 20 Jan 17. But get her in front of Congress to answer questions about the matter. She will commit perjury and then Obama’s pardon means nothing as she will have done it after he left office.

Maybe Trump has an agreement with Obama - don’t pardon her or Obama can be targeted.

This is starting to remind me of the last season of House of Cards, where Francis and Claire decide that if they can’t win people’s hearts, they will just usurp power and rule through fear.

Clinton is following the same path.

Priebus has turned me around on the RNC - for now. I’ll probably be making a few more small donations until such time as he proves me wrong. Gonna also keep making some smaller donations to trump and buy some of his stuff for the foreseeable future - set him up for a super campaign in 2020....

“backing away from a deal”

That implies she understood she’d receive some benefit from agreeing to the deal.
I assume Trump is insightful enough to realize that benefit need be something more than “loser concedes promptly and accepts the result”, because there’s no downside/penalty to _not_ accepting the results. There MUST be something Trump is holding over her head, something other than threat of Special Prosecutor.

"Good intentions will always be pleaded for every assumption of authority. It is hardly too strong to say that the Constitution was made to guard the people against the dangers of good intentions. There are men in all ages who mean to govern well, but they mean to govern. They promise to be good masters, but they mean to be masters."
