Hartford is like Newark, NJ. People on welfare, corruption and mindless government workers have milked it dry. A few insurance companies stand between Hartford and its demise.

So if not tunnels, what’s the answer to dealing with the traffic congestion and the deteriorating condition of the I-84 viaduct? Anybody here wanna toss off any ideas?
If the GOP wants to remain (or become) competitive in suburban areas, they will need to figure out ways to address traffic congestion. In some areas, it’s the Number One issue, and whoever can credibly address it will gain lots and lots of support.

Funny that we had a rail line ...the *Airline Railroad*
1867, David Lyman II begins the construction of the Air Line Railroad from New Haven to Willimantic. Though he sees tracks laid through Middlefield, David passes away in 1871 before the construction is complete.
The massive brownstone RR bridge that crosses the Connecticut River between Portland and Middletown, was a segment of the Airline RR. Now, those RR beds are mostly hiking, biking trails for the public.
I just hope Malloy will do what Obama and Clinton did for the Democrat Party, which is damaged it. I hope someone (A business person) will run for Governor to ‘Make Connecticut Great Again.’ :-)

These politicians who come out of the Gold Coast have ruined our state. They came with deep pockets supporting them.
The Airline is alive and well on my (and ConservaTeen) model layout, along with the Midland route (the old Manchester go Willimantic route) and the railroad to Rockville/Ellington. On my layout, Ellington has a juice plant, an airplane factory, a shed builder (Koster Farm) and a few others rail served businesses. Amston (on the Airline)has a business which in real life is an abandoned building (if I recall, it is on 66, it was a dinghy manufacturer in the early 80s), so I have 3 businesses on my layout in Amston, a dinghy manufacturer, a fertilizer company and lumberyard.
Great rail trail...I loved walking it...
