‘Sanctuary California’ Faces Bankruptcy if Trump Withholds Federal Funds
Breitbart ^ | 26 Nov 2016 | Chriss W. Street

Although Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti warned President-elect Trump that defunding Sanctuary Cities would cause “social, economic and security problems,” Sanctuary California could face bankruptcy if the Trump administration follows through on threats to pull billions in federal funding.

There are 300 “Sanctuary Cities” and counties around the United States that have policies in place blocking local law enforcement from complying with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detainer requests for immigration holds.

An ICE detainer is a written request for a local jail or other law enforcement agency to detain an individual for an additional 48 hours (excluding weekends and holidays) after his or her release date, in order to provide ICE agents extra time to decide whether to take the individual into federal custody for removal purposes.

Why waste all the time and effort?? This is a Law Enforcement problem, Start ARRESTING and PROSECUTING Public Officials, beginning with Eric Garcetti and LAPD Chief Charlie Beck.

Then immediately begin going through VOTER Registration rolls to look for NON-CITIZENS that Illegally Voted. IMMEDIATELY DEPORT ALL OF THEM. If any of them can be demonstrated to have Collected Taxpayer Funds, ARREST AND CHARGE the Head of that Agency and ALL of it’s Employee’s that have ILLEGALLY GIVEN TAXPAYER MONEY to Foreign Criminal Invaders.

THIS WILL GET THEIR ATTENTION much faster and Produce tangible results immediately.

> San Francisco city council drew the red line saying they would remain a sanctuary city to the bloody end. Time will tell.

Sanctuary city? Bloody end? Looks like you predicted their future to me... California is the one that wanted to secede. That means they will no longer be part of the U.S. looks like the geniuses didn't think things all the way through so you kow they're liberals. They never do. Socialism is just one example of many.

>>Let California secede. Tell them goodbye on the way out.

And don’t forget to collect the exit taxes. :)

San Francisco city council drew the red line saying they would remain a sanctuary city to the bloody end.

Keep the illegals, reject the support; and the end WILL be bloody.

The illegals are criminals by merely being here and forcing us to work to pay for welfare / freebies they shouldn’t be getting (If we do it, it called fraud). The only maybe, out of compassion would be to give them emergency shelter, food, and some necessities right before turning their a$$es around and sending them back. But knowing the Califiornia politicians they’d find a loophole in that and take advantage of it.

What do you mean, "if"?

What's going to be even funnier is the day after the first NIH research grant check doesn't arrive, Sanctuary Yale campus police will have rounded up every illegal on campus and delivered them to the bus station.

> that’s the answer then

Maybe in more than one way too. If they’re squawking about this so loudly maybe they weren’t exactly using their funds for the intended purposes.

There is a movement underway for California to secede and become an independent country. Let’s help them along by cutting off all federal money and let them fund themselves. That will quickly end Sanctuary cities, and put an end to any further talk of seceding.

Great ideas, BUT they will immediately run to the Judiciary and we all know how that works!!! How did you like Prop 8 passed by 52.2% of the residents of Mexifornia in 2008? That really worked out well starting at the 9th Circus of Appeals.

In August 2010, Chief Judge Vaughn Walker ruled that the amendment was unconstitutional under both the Due Process and Equal Protection Clauses of the Fourteenth Amendment.............. On February 7, 2012, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, in a 2-1 decision, reached the same conclusion as the district court, but on narrower grounds. The court ruled that it was unconstitutional for California to grant marriage rights to same-sex couples, only to take them away shortly after. The ruling was stayed pending appeal to the United States Supreme Court.

Leftwingers in San Francisco rallied to keep bath houses open during the height of the AIDS crisis in the 80s. Theyre not known for making good decisions.

ICE didn’t release a breakdown of criminal offenses of the new 30,000 on Wednesday, but among the 36,000 released in 2013 were 193 homicide convictions, 426 sexual assault convictions, 303 kidnapping convictions and 16,070 convictions for driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

They are releasing murderers, kidnappers, sex criminals, and drunk drivers into the American populace because their home countries won't take them back?

And they released even more last year?

How the hell is all hell not breaking loose?

This is insane, the apparatchiks and the politicians and judges responsible for this need to go to jail.

START IMMIGRATION REFORM BY CATCHING THESE MF’S AND SENDING THEM BACK TO WHERE THEY CAME FROM.

Their countries don’t want them back, TOO DAMN BAD.

This is impeachable.

Republicans in Congress have proposed rewriting the law to allow for longer detention of serious criminals, and have called on the Obama administration to use existing powers to deny visas to leaders of countries that refuse to take their citizens back.

But the administration has declined to take those steps.

Those released from custody are generally supposed to be monitored, and Ms. Saldana vowed to stiffen those procedures to try to ensure those that are released are not able to commit new crimes.

The RIGHT WING needs to take matters in hand.

The marxists in DC have now elected to dispatch a LEGION OF ILLEGAL ALIEN MURDERERS, KIDNAPPERS, SEX CRIMINALS, AND DRUNK DRIVERS INTO THE AMERICAN POPULACE.

This cannot stand, these are not your standard illegal aliens, these are HARD CORE FELONS, and their release into the populace undermines the HUSSEIN Administrations narrative that they are going to grant amnesty to garden variety ILLEGAL ALIENS to concentrate on “criminals”

...not another cent in federal retirements, social security, military retirement, nothing will be sent to California once they are gone.

Sounds good, but in basic financial terms CA would be better off. They pay more in federal taxes than they get back in federal spending.

If feds withdraw the funding, the cities could respond with tit-for-tat and withdraw most of federal taxes (related to those federal “gifts”). Considering that this is Silicon Valley, the net result would be more money in their pockets.

There is that little thing called the Constitution.

The Federal government cannot compel State governments to follow federal law (with some exceptions like the voter right act and protection of the Bill of Rights).

They can refuse to give money to the States, and they can put strings on funding.

It would be better if this were not the case. It is how we have so much federal interference in state matters.

But Republican should use the power wholeheartedly, then push for an Article V convention to gut it for the future.
