One day after Thanksgiving, Rep. Dana Rohrabacher tweeted out news that he is being considered for the position of Secretary of State in President-elect Donald Trump’s Administration. The tweet linked to the following message:
I have been told that I am under consideration to join President Trump’s team as Secretary of State. While my present intention, of course, is to continue to fight for liberty and freedom as a member of the House of Representatives, as a strong supporter of President-Elect Trump’s vision for America, it would be a privilege and an honor to serve as his Secretary of State.

Rohrabacher previously served as a senior speech writer for seven years as well as special assistant to former President Ronald Reagan. He is a senior member of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs and serves as chairman of the subcommittee on Europe, Eurasia, and Emerging Threats.

Dana Rohrbacher has been on the list. Of all people floated for SOS to date,I think he’s the best qualified.

The other possibility is that Dana was considered but now knows he is out of the running, so just wants to get some mileage out of it. But I don’t think he’d misrepresent where he is in the process for that—he could just wait a bit to announce it as something after the fact.
Maybe down in FL more recently?
Why would anyone undermine themself this way? “Leaking” that you are being considered for something is, IMHO, exactly how to NOT get the job.
Discretion and tact, and keeping to yourself until the smoke clears. This isn’t a seat on student council, for heaven’s sake!
Trump needs to end this and give it to Rudy.
Any of the others apparently under consideration would be a huge mistake.

So, he has actual qualifications, unlike Hillary and Kerry.

I believe Trump may have allowed it because he was trying to calm the waters, after the storm about Romney.
And .. the article doesn’t clarify what state he represents. I know his name, but he’s not representing where I live in CA.
IT SHOULD BE IMPERATIVE .. YOU CAN ONLY SELECT A CONGRESS PERSON FROM A REPUBLICAN STATE .. BECAUSE THAT ALLOWS THE GOV. OF THAT STATE TO APPOINT A REPLACEMENT FROM THE REPUBLICAN RANKS.
If he can’t keep his mouth shut, I wouldn’t choose him.
Did he support Iraq? That’s the one Trump opposed before it ever started.
I have it on good authority from unnamed sources that I’m on the list for Sec of State. Yes, you heard it here first. Good grief, there’s nearly a dozen names being jabbered about. I’ll wait until Trump himself makes the announcement.
My brother met Rohrabacher when he was in the Middle East working as a consultant with the State Department. The guy said glowing things about Putin. Completely oblivious to the fact that Putin is a dangerous man. Scary stupid.
He wouldn't be my first choice, but I'd much rather see him than Romney, Giuliani, Bolton, and several other names on Trump's short list.
