Farewell to Cuba’s brutal Big Brother

One of the most brutal dictators in modern history has just died. Oddly enough, some will mourn his passing, and many an obituary will praise him. Millions of Cubans who have been waiting impatiently for this moment for more than half a century will simply ponder his crimes and recall the pain and suffering he caused.

Let’s do a quick, late night summary of Castro’s communism in action(aided by Raoul and Che the torturer/murderer:
* Brought a brutal communist dictatorship to Cuba instead of the freedom they “promised”
*Tortured and executed in excess of 15,000-20,000 people including former Castro rebel real freedom fighter. Maria Bethel’s relatives were among those executed. Paul Bethel’s wife to those in the “know” about Cuba.
*Spread communist guerrilla warfare throughout Latin America including Bolivia, Chile, Uruguay Nicaragua, Guatemala, and probably El Salvador and the Dominican Republic, plus Grenada where they fought against US liberating troops.
*Sent about 40,000 troops to Angola to help the Marxists win
* Brought back AIDS from Africa which infected the whole island, and ended up with AIDS-infected Cuban soldiers in essentially what were concentration camps
*Was part of the narcotics trafficking pipeline from Colombia, possibly Peru, and Europe to Central America and the U.S. Gen. Ochoa was executed by his boss Fidel because he got exposed and somebody had to the Castro’s scapegoat.
*Carried out the training of U.S. terrorists under the guise of teaching U.S. students how to cut sugar cane and build houses. Read the report of the House Internal Security Committee on the “Venceremos Brigade”, a Cuban Communist Party/DGI (Secret Police) and KGB combined operation. One of the top leaders of the VB, Prof. Johnnetta Cole was a good friend of, drum roll, Hillary Clinton who added her to the 1992 presidential transition team and reportedly tried to get Bill to nominate her for Secretary of Education.
*Espionage - okay, it comes with the territory but the communists infiltrated the CIA and possibly FBI
*Cuba assassinated anti-Castro Cubans esp. in Miami (you don’t read much about that today)
*Pro-Cuban propagandists wrote glowing articles about Castro’s Cuba while attacking Cuban exiles and freedom fighters. One was a CBS stringer in Havana, Lionel Martin, exposed in the old newsletter “The Pink Sheet on the Left’ in the 1970’s. Remember Herbert Matthews and his very favorable reports on Castro and how he wasn’t a communist? Another New York Times “disinformation” journalist and asshole.
*Funded and trained the Marxist Puerto Rican terrorists who killed US servicemen in Puerto Rico and American citizens in New York City and possibly Chicago. The FALN, MIR and others.
*Set up pro-Castro fronts in the U.S. from the original Fair Play for Cuba Committee, Medical Aid to Cuba, Committee for July 20/26, Center for Cuban Studies, Tricontinental Information Center, and the propaganda “EXPOCUBA” event.
*Got pro-communists and fools like Harry Belafonte, Rev. Willie Barrows (a friend of Michele Obama’s), Sean Penn, Rev. Jeremiah Wright, and fronts like WOLA, COHA, CISPES, MAES, NEST, EPICA, etc. to front for them with support and propaganda statements.
*Cuban agents tortured US POWS in No. Vietnam including one nicknamed “The Lump”, and other who turned out later to be a Cuban diplomat. Just Google “Michael Benge and Vietnam” and you’re read his personal experiences of being tortured by the Cubans.
*Pro-Castro Travel agencies, often set up by the Communist Party USA, including the old Anniversary Tours, Manusil? Tours (in the old Marxist “Guardian”, anything to do with Sen. Fulbright’s old aide, Kirby Jones, and more recent ones.
*Killed thousands of Cubans fleeing their homeland by sea, usually by shooting them on the boats and in the water, or sinking their boats and letting them drop. Plus shooting down two unarmed leafleting planes from the US run by the anti-Castro group, Rescue Brothers.
If I have forgotten anything, sorry. I’m doing this off the top of my head.

Steven Powell (on IPS), the Council on Inter-American Security, David Horowitz’ “FrontPage Magazine” organization; and the old Council Against Communist Aggression and its publications.
