French President François Hollande on Saturday called for the embargo that “punishes” Cuba to be “lifted definitively” following the death of Fidel Castro. […]

“Even if I have repeatedly denounced human rights abuses in Cuba, I have always believed that the embargo was an unacceptable, unilateral decision,” he said. “Fidel Castro was a great figure of the 20th century. He aroused much hope with the Cuban revolution. There have also been disappointments.” …

Well, of course God loves all, but the tyrannical actions of the Castro brothers were anything but admirable. I feel like using the term freedom fries again.

“A great figure”? Is that how Trudeau really thought of Castro?
Canadians should be worried if he sticks to that opinion.
Very telling. Even Obola didn’t butter him up quite that openly. Perhaps ‘something was lost’ in translation.

“Of course he does. Hollande probably has wet dreams about being like Fidel.”

But his problem is that his schwantz doesn’t begin to measure up! What a worthless piece of skin!

My mistake! This quote is from Hollande of France, NOT Trudeau of Canada. But my conclusion still stands.

I have to constantly ask myself if these people are really that stupid and blind or are they counting on the ignorance of their audience to gain a political following.

At this point, I honestly don’t know.

Hollande, like most Socialists, probably grew up admiring dictators such as Castro. He could no doubt recite all the propaganda and myths about Socialism and it’s ‘folk heroes’.
For folks like Hollande, this may feel like when the boxer Muhammad Ali died last year.

I’m really old and can remember standing in a phone booth at Ft. Belvoir, VA (we were on full alert) one cold and rainy October night in 1962 speaking to my bride-to-be in Cleveland a few weeks before our November wedding day not sure we would survive the night!

Fortunately, around the same time, TV journalist (yes, Virginia, there was a time when there were good people in that vocation) JOHN SCALI was in a DC coffee shop in a “back channel” meeting with the Soviet Ambassador. Somehow, Scali and the Ambassador worked out a way to avoid the threatened nuclear holocaust.

As for Fidel, I’m also old enough to remember the wry joke that accompanied his rise to power: “Castro got his job through THE NEW YORK TIMES!” The the glowing reportage about “The Robin Hood of the Sierra Maestra Mountains” convinced most folks here that he was a wonderful humanitarian, not a COMMUNIST who would establish a mini workers’ paradise and provide the USSR with a base in our hemisphere.

The NYT is STILL at it, aren’t they?

The same people who are screaming about the inequities of the electoral collage are bending over backwards to praise a dictator.
