The Constitution lets the electoral college choose the winner. They should choose Clinton.

Conventional wisdom tells us that the electoral college requires that the person who lost the popular vote this year must nonetheless become our president. That view is an insult to our framers. It is compelled by nothing in our Constitution. It should be rejected by anyone with any understanding of our democratic traditions  — most important, the electors themselves.

The framers believed, as Alexander Hamilton put it, that “the sense of the people should operate in the choice of the [president].” But no nation had ever tried that idea before. So the framers created a safety valve on the people’s choice. Like a judge reviewing a jury verdict, where the people voted, the electoral college was intended to confirm — or not — the people’s choice. Electors were to apply, in Hamilton’s words, “a judicious combination of all the reasons and inducements which were proper to govern their choice” — and then decide. The Constitution says nothing about “winner take all.” It says nothing to suggest that electors’ freedom should be constrained in any way. Instead, their wisdom — about whether to overrule “the people” or not — was to be free of political control yet guided by democratic values. They were to be citizens exercising judgment,  not cogs turning a wheel.

Many think we should abolish the electoral college... What if the people elect a Manchurian candidate? Or a child rapist? What if evidence of massive fraud pervades a close election? It is a useful thing to have a body confirm the results of a democratic election — so long as that body exercises its power reflectively and conservatively. Rarely — if ever — should it veto the people’s choice. And if it does, it needs a very good reason.

It doesn’t let them choose like someone chooses a candidate to vote for.

What simpletons.

This is standard liberal reaction.

The rules are great when we win and when we lose by those rules, the rules need to be changed to prevent “this” (ie their loss) from ever happening again.

If they would then lose the popular vote, they would say that now would need to be changed and go back to the electoral college (hey, it really wasn’t so bad after all!).

The desperation is outright hysterical.

It’s like every day since the election is Christmas morning.

The 14th Amendment talks about “the right to vote at any election for the choice of electors for President and Vice President of the United States” so that at least implies an understanding of the practice of the voters choosing the electors who will support a particular candidate.

Popular vote doesn’t matter because they don’t even count all the absentee votes once the election is decided.

Either that or it may all go away in the cold winds of January when Dear Leader ascends the throne.

“We don’t LIKE the constitution. We DEMAND that it be torn up and we be given total control.” That’s pretty much what they want. They should be clubbed like baby seals.

If he goes ahead with business as usual in letting these buffoons have daily access to refreshments and desks while they argue with Laura, I’ll be surprised. He’s jerked their credentials before, he will do it again.

The framers of the Constitution didn’t have to deal with millions of illegals voting & their votes being counted.

Obama should be tried for election fraud for telling illegals’ GO VOTE—No one will stop you.

IF that doesn’t make the case for voter ID, I don’t know what should.

This is what they are reduced to. They have almost no political power come January.

>>What if the people elect a Manchurian candidate?......like Obama?

This deranged arrogant megalomaniac unaccountably got into American politics under false pretenses.

His disgusting European apology tour certainly proved his rank hatred of America. His capabilities in office demonstrated a remarkable proclivity for looting the US Treasury.

In it only for the money, you say? You betcha. The Washington Times says he leaves office as a billionaire.....and plans to shake the money tree bigtime (coached by those practiced grifting experts....the Clintons).

===============================================

The clock is ticking, his time in the White House is fading....but Obama is not going quietly. Boobamba left Americans a divided nation, trillions in debt, and a cartload of parasitic freeloaders sucking up our tax dollars, many of whom plan to kill us.

If that wasnt enough Boobamba says he intends to stay active....to take years and years to transform America even more. He's proud he fundamentally transformed the nation we loved into a violent, hate-filled place.

All of this is fodder for his foundations. The reality is the Boob and the missus got rich in office and intend to get even richer via an endless presidency......ala the crooked Clintons.
