Republican John Kennedy expected to win runoff for Louisiana U.S. Senate seat

Democrats have insisted that they will push to win the only outstanding Senate race in the country — a Dec. 10 runoff election in Louisiana — but it appears to be trending toward the Republican candidate, which would give the party an effective 52-48 majority next year.

State Treasurer John N. Kennedy won the most votes on Nov. 8, but in a crowded field he fell far short of the 50 percent threshold needed to win outright.

Democrats will find some “uncounted” ballots in a basement somewhere, it is what they do...

He should get at least 55% of the vote. Maybe closer to 58%.

Republican John Kennedy...

That's going to be a painful name for Democrats to say out loud. :)

Fortunately, there aren’t that many basements in Louisiana. :)

Trying to imagine a Republican senator named John Kennedy. It’s not easy.

At least his first name isn’t Ted.

He was born in 1951 so his parents didn’t name him after their favorite guy.

Unlike Hillary Rodham Clinton, who told the people of New Zealand she was named after their national hero, Sir Edmund Hillary, even though she was born a few years before anyone ever heard of him.

There was a guy named John Fitzgerald Kennedy, a janitor with no political experience or background, who ran for Treasurer of Massachusetts in 1964 and won.

We will hand the Democrats another humbling defeat on Dec. 10th.

That State is solid Red and the only way a Democrat gets elected now is if the Democrats find some scandal to make an issue of.

Someday a Republican will be able to say to a Democrat, “Senator, I knew John Kennedy. John Kennedy was a friend of mine. And you, Senator, are no John Kennedy!”

John Francis Kennedy, not Fitzgerald. It was in 1954. He managed to serve 3 terms in the job of Treasurer. He figured when the other JFK ran for President in 1960, he’d try to move up for Governor, but ended up losing badly in the Dem primary.
