Not if they have to compete with home grown products.

Trump’s planned on corporate tax cuts will help make up the difference in labor cost.

He mentioned 15% tax rate I believe at one point. Hopefully so.

Like who? Carrier is late in moving production overseas.

I believe they move because LABOR COSTS are a variable that is controllable by moving.

True.

If Trump reduces the corporate tax from 39% to 15% i see that they can make a healthy profit WITHOUT cutting U.S. LABOR COSTS.

Ah but if Trump cuts corporate taxes from 39% to 15% and Carrier cuts labor costs by moving overseas then they will make an even healthier profit.

Like anybody who wishes to start a new company under the new conditions that are coming with Donald Trump, or buy an existing company or consolidate other companies. The marketplace will create new products when the EPA and other constrictive rulings are brought under control by Trump’s administration. “Build a better mousetrap and the world will beat a path to your door.”

The excellent news re Trump’s future cabinet members is his shedding of Ivy league grads for real business people not elite liberal theorists, who hate real Americans.

Trump eschews Ivy Leagues in favor of business acumen for cabinet!

Not if they're forced to pay a 35% product import tax on each unit, which is what Trump has threatened.

You mean their customers will be forced to pay a 35% product tax on each unit. Legally I doubt that Trump can apply it to Carrier alone and they are not the only air conditioning manufacturer who has outsourced jobs overseas.

Blue Eagle has everything to do with this. Just as Blue Eagle stifled the American economy in the 30s, protectionism can stifle our economy now. Bottom line is we should want goods to be produced cheaply and forget about American jobs.

Protecting American jobs stifles the economy?

Forget about American jobs?

Are you really saying Americans should be happy to live in caves and eat bugs because it enables them to buy iPhones cheaper?

Do you even believe this stuff, or do you just post it as an experiment to see who falls for it?

By the way, what’s your opinion on those low-cost Mexican investment bankers?

You're underestimating Trump and what he will accomplish.. as you'll will eventually see.

You're operating on the same old broken down premise.. "if things don't change they'll stay the same."

He was taking it easy in supreme confidence that he could count on the total destruction of America to be finished by the Hillary Clinton administration. Now he is faced with the prospect of leaving office with his victim still barely alive, he has to be extremely distressed.

In my profession you get paid a percentage of profits. Not sure what you mean by low cost Mexican investment banker. Your analogy doesn’t work in my profession.

You don’t think Mexican investment bankers would be willing to work for a smaller percentage of the profits?

I know the cost of living in NYC and London is fairly high. I suspect that the cost of living in whatever Mexico has for a “financial center” is fairly high by Mexican standards, but much lower than that of NYC or London. Thus, an investment banker in Mexico could live quite comfortably on a smaller percentage.

Therefore, the investment banking activity in NYC (or wherever you work) should be moved to Mexico since it would lower the costs, right?

If a Mexican investment banker, or trader, can make more money for the bank than me then it wouldn’t be a question of him or me. It would be both him and me. We would both be profitable so the bank would want both of us. Your analogy still doesn’t apply.

But if the Mexican banker can do exactly the same thing you do but at a lower cost, why shouldn’t the bank get rid of you and hire another Mexican?

Well then there would be two Mexican bankers and me. Why would they fire me if I can make a profit? They could hire 1000 Mexican bankers. If I am still profitable then I stay, simple as that.

Are you saying there’s enough work for an infinite number of bankers?

To: DuncanWaring

I am actually a trader within an investment bank. But no there can’t be an infinite number of traders or investment bankers. Many get fired because they are not profitable. But any investment bank will hire and retain as many traders as they can get their hands on who are profitable. Finding a profitable is extremely difficult.
