Yes the US needs to exit and immediately stop arming the various factions in that civil war. It was posted on FR a few weeks ago that the CIA is arming one faction and the DOD is arming another and that the two factions are fighting each other as well as the Syrian government.

I have no idea why we really want to get rid of Assad. He is a member of a Shiite sect and the Sunni groups are supported by the Saudis. Also, in about 2006 or so,Bush was trying to oust Assad and a good number of Democrats opposed that policy.

yes . Assad is actually an Alawi. an off shoot of shia islam. They all believe in “Ali” —second cousin of Mohamed.It is a Shia sect and despite it’s small minority ( 11%) it rules Syria and the sunni ( ISIS) hate Assad because he is not a damned sunni.Of Course, they are all going to hell but we need to understand their insanity to protect America which is 83% Christian believers.
