Now that South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley has a new job, eyes are on her successor. Lt. Gov. Henry McMaster will be assuming the governorship as Haley prepares to become President-elect Donald Trump's ambassador to the United Nations.
Cue the online biographies for McMaster. A few highlights on his resume include: Army JAG officer, United States Attorney for the District of South Carolina under President Reagan, chairman of the South Carolina Republican Party, South Carolina Attorney General and (current) Lieutenant Governor of the Palmetto State.
Despite being part of the party "establishment," McMaster endorsed Trump way back in January, calling him a "man of accomplishment" who has a "quiet compassion" for those in need. As such, Trump can expect to have a cooperative friend and partner in South Carolina.
It's a win-win for President-elect Trump.

He appoints the AG, who appoints the special prosecutor, who makes the call whether or not to prosecute. Can’t blame Trump if she gets charged and convicted.
I for one can’t figure out why she would take this. She has to know Trump is using it to silence her.

The UN Ambassadorship can be quite a megaphone. Recall how Bolton used it to confound one-worlders and other libtards?
Haley also knows what she’s doing. Gov of South Carolina has zero national exposure. UN Rep gets her on national news regularly, and she already has the Gov. gig under her belt to give her executive gravitas. This is not a demotion. That is an ambitious woman.
UN ambassador certainly is high profile. Face in the news all the time, in New York.
Well, Bolton was very effective and yet in the end, he was speaking for his boss. It’s a visible position that is closely tied to POTUS.
Brilliant move all the way around. Trump will have Nikki delivering not so popular news to the UN. She has to know she is signing up for that. Let’s see how tough she is.
Hmm. Great move! Ambassador to the UN is a virtually useless job under a guy like Trump. Her job will mainly be to say, “No, sorry, no, sorry, no.” Now he gets an ally in that state. And Nikki Haley gets her publicity, since the libs think the UN is wonderful!
