Let’s let Christmas be about Christ, and not even about “the Christmas presents” as we know them.

“The Christmas presents” are a nice symbol, but letting them distract us into worldliness vitiates the point.

Wow, I would think Target should be #1 on the naughty list.

Secular consumerism should itself be on a naughty list, IMHO.

I hear you. When I was a youngster in school the teachers would invariably have the kids one by one tell the class what they got for Christmas. I know several told fibs just to say something good.

I vowed as a teacher and administrator that was not going to happen on my watch and even instilled in the kids I had in Sunday School and Kids’ Church not to ask “what did you ‘git’ for Christmas?” For we all have heard the follow-up . . . . “is that all you got?”

I emphasized this every year and they got the message. . .the parents, well that’s another story. Another activity I did with the students in Sunday School/Kids’ Church was to take a hot commodity item and show on the white board how many hours (using minimum wage) a parent/grandparent would have to work just to purchase that item. It was a “wow” moment for many of them.

The birth of Jesus should be in our hearts and minds every day. . .for He was born to die for the sins of the world.

And even yet the idea isn’t one of guilt trips. Most family givers are glad to do it. The idea is to understand the love that went into it.

To gladly receive love from the Lord then gladly share love around to others is the ultimate Christmas spirit.

I’m contrarian sometimes (for bad or good reasons both) and I wonder if the reason Target hasn’t done even worse in the face of their foolishness, is that Target at least believes in something notable, however wrongheaded.

Something will always beat nothing. The lefties can count on Target being notably friendly. When was the last time we’ve seen anything of that depth in Christendom?

There is NO way Macy’s is nice! Just looked at their Black Friday ad - not one mention of Christmas. Calling Christmas ornaments, “Holiday Ornaments” instead of Christmas Tree, they just use the word “Tree”. Not sure about the validity of this AFA list...

Thank you. They just fall under a whole different heading, I guess. Because Target is bad ALL of the time; not just at Christmas

As an ordained minister, I do not look to the institutionalized church as being the exemplar of Christendom.

Having said that, I see real Charity, far deeper and greater than superficial friendliness, from genuine Christians on a frequent basis.

Such conduct does not get any attention from the anti-Christian media.

I just e-mailed AFA with your comment. I agree. . .they should be removed. They went out of their way to leave Christmas out.
