McCrory officially requests statewide recount in gubernatorial race

Raleigh, N.C. — As counties across the state continue to tally provisional ballots, Gov. Pat McCrory on Tuesday formally requested a statewide recount in his contested gubernatorial race with Attorney General Roy Cooper.

McCrory's campaign said the recount was filed to "meet the original date statutorily specified, although the formal recount will not occur until after the county boards of election certify their results."

"With many outstanding votes yet to be counted for the first time, legal challenges, ballot protests and voter fraud allegations, we must keep open the ability to allow the established recount process to ensure every legal vote is counted properly," Russell Peck, McCrory's campaign manager, said in a statement.

McCrory can legally request a recount because the vote difference between him and Cooper is fewer than 10,000 votes.

Well, that may be what a lot of NC voters did - but the difference in the original vote tally was just 5000 votes which occurred after Durham County had six polling places that stayed open hours past the usual closing time.

This is just like in Florida and Philadelphia where voting places were allowed to stay open in an attempt to sway the final vote tally. It didn’t work in Florida but in the past it did work in places like Philadelphia.

Yes, Governor McCrory was being punished for wanting to keep men out of women’s bathrooms and that resulted in the NCAA championship games being withdrawn from the state.

Still, it took blatant voter fraud to pull off this election “victory” for that creep, Cooper.

Voter fraud undermines Democracy. It is ironic that the “Democratic” party relies on voter fraud. I guess “Democratic Party” just sounds better than “Voter Fraud Party.”

So says the ever-so-intelligent resident of New Jersey, lol.

I saw an interesting item about McCrory's track record that caught my eye:

He has vetoed six bills as governor, and four of his vetoes have been overridden (including the coal ash law). That's an astonishing record when you consider that the state legislature is controlled by the same party as the governor. It also tells me McCrory was probably at odds with most of his constituents on some key issues.

Governor McCrory is the Republican sitting Governor - he has done a good job in our state - along with our Republican controlled legislature - reduced taxes, got our state out of debt, and was bringing jobs back into the state.

Roy Cooper is the Democrat - sitting Attorney General in the mold of several previous Democrat governors who had taken NC into the dustbin of economic upheavals and debt.

The big issue in the race was House Bill 2 - which came about because the Charlotte City Council passed an ordinance which required entities to allow transgender people to use the bathroom of their choice - that aligned with their “gender”. The Legislature intervened with House Bill 2 (HB2) which forbids such special treatment of transgender people with respect to bathroom privileges.

If Democratic voter fraud in North Carolina was that rampant, then why didn't Hillary Clinton win the state?

The governor's race was very close according to the pre-election polls. The reason Trump won could be that the stupid Dems in NC believed the national polls that predicted an easy win by Hillary. Another reason could be that they DID try to steal the POTUS race for her, but that stealing a race is only possible if the race is close. If McCrory does end up losing after the great job he did as governor, I don't think Cooper will be able to do much with a veto-proof Republican majority in both the senate and the house. I also think he will be a one-term governor because the fact that he is suspected of stealing the governorship will come back to bite him.

Good point. LOL.

I'll tell you this, though ... If any of my friends or family members ever voted for a public official based on a stupid basketball tournament, I'd set them on fire.

Someone posted previously on FR (don’t remember who it was) that the Dems in NC were more concerned with giving the Governorship to Cooper than they were about Hillary winning as President.

My fears had been that:

1) There would be massive voter fraud in NC
2) That it would mean Gov. McCrory would lose
3) That it would mean that Donald Trump would lose

I was right on 2 out of the 3. Praise God, somehow Donald Trump won NC anyway!

Being a former Charlotte mayor himself, McCrory isn’t exactly a fire-breathing social issues conservative. He’s pro-business. That’s why sticking to his guns over HB2 has been so surprising. Democrat activists in this state wanted to take out McCrory more than they wanted to prevent a Trump win, several have stated so publicly.

I’ve been lukewarm toward McCrory, myself. He strikes me as a bit of a squish, but far better than the alternative. I did vote for him. It’s evident to me that vote fraud provided the margin of victory, it all emerged from those late 90,000 votes in Durham County.

Whether that can ever be proved or not, I can’t say. But, I applaud the Republicans finally getting serious about pursuing voter fraud. It’s there, we all know it. Trouble is, the county and precinct levels in questionable areas are Democrat. It won’t be easy, and it won’t be quick.

That sounds like a loser's talking point in an abysmal election year for their political party.

"We may have lost the White House, both houses of Congress, and every state legislature and governor's race in the country ... but we were really more concerned with the Crapstain County commissioner's race than with any of those others."

Yep, only the courts can find the type of fraud used.

Read that McCrory is challenging the “same day registration” votes because the boards were not able to verify the registrants addresses.
“Same day registration” was imposd on the state by a Democrat federal court.

There’s a lot to be looked at.

Right. It was a LBGTQ issue that did him in.

If people voted for this Cooper because they wanted men to use women’s bathrooms , the it just tells me how frigging stupid, and perverted some people are.

Wait till these women let men use their bathrooms, and rapes occur, or even less when a woman goes to use the bathroom only to find urine all over the seat.

“Personally I am not a fan of the governor because he lied right to my face about a local matter.”

Sorry to read that the Governor lied to you about anything.

Governor McCrory has been such a breath of fresh air in the cesspool of Democratic governors we had had for such a long time.....cleaning up (as much as he could) the swamp that he found in the different branches of NC government.

I voted for him. And I believe he would have won had it not been for the massive voter fraud especially in Durham County. There is still an outside chance that somehow this travesty of justice will be righted.

I know elections are a state thing, but Trump MUST address our nations’ outdated and fraud ridden voting systems.

Could Democrat activists in NC have intentionally put Trump over the top, in order to provide cover for the fraudulent votes necessary to defeat McCrory? They wanted him out, badly, more than they wanted to prevent a Trump win. Several have stated so publicly, as I’ve mentioned.

A possibility. Or that the vote difference between Trump and Hillary was so large, they just couldn’t pull it off. They knew they had enough votes through the fraud to defeat McCrory - and as you say, THAT is the race that really mattered to them....more than the Presidential race.

It would be great if that thought took root and spread. With all the leftist wailing and gnashing of teeth already occurring, to think that parochial, state level priorities in NC took precedence would drive the DUmmies straight over the edge.

Good point! I will try to make that point to my liberal relatives with whom I am having Thanksgiving lunch.....not that I hate them. I don’t, I love them all. But they have been “devastated and terrified” by President Trump’s win. If I can rub it in a bit, I will do so. Maybe I’m just mean.
