Trump Summons TV Figures for Private Meeting, and Lets Them Have It
MSN News ^ | 11/22/2016 | MICHAEL M. GRYNBAUM and SYDNEY EMBER

It had all the trappings of a high-level rapprochement: President-elect Donald J. Trump, now the nation’s press critic in chief, inviting the leading anchors and executives of television news to join him on Monday for a private meeting of minds.

On-air stars like Lester Holt, Charlie Rose, George Stephanopoulos and Wolf Blitzer headed to Trump Tower for the off-the-record gathering, typically the kind of event where journalists and politicians clear the air after a hard-fought campaign.

Instead, the president-elect delivered a defiant message: You got it all wrong.

OK, most of the comments about Trump and the Media are well taken, I stand corrected, let ‘em have it with both barrels!

They are a dying breed as was stated so good riddance.

Holy crap, what a crock indeed!!!!!

“mutual trust” my keister! The only time that is even remotely true is when there is a liberal in the White House, and then, only if it doesn’t interfere with the self-interest of any journalist involved.

Good God. I cannot believe these people. They actually believe their own BS.

As long as there is any ‘social media’ outlet, and that includes the one called ‘Patreon’ (I’ve seen a lot of YouTubers referring the viewers to it), there is a means for Mr. Trump to get out his message.

At some point, David Muir wanted to dig into Trump

I call Muir "plastic hair." He wears it in that weird knife-edged shelf over his brow, and it never moves. Not in hurricanes, not in anything. Never. Moves.

Underneath his plastic hair, Muir is one seriously nasty Leftist creep.

Mr. Trump, emboldened by his victory, may refuse to abide the traditional dynamic of a president and the journalists who cover him, a naturally adversarial relationship that is nevertheless based on some level of mutual trust.

That only applies to Democrats. The media seldom was critical of Obama on anything, but with Republicans they are critical of everything.

Republicans need to learn that the media does not like them, they will never like them, and even if they give in and do what the media wants, they would still not like them.

Face it, the media is just the propaganda arm of the Democrat Party.

I think Trump knows and understands this

So while I enjoy them getting their butt’s kicked, the mass media still has sway over millions of Zombies...

And so nothing changes other than Trump shows he will get into their faces when ever he believes they crossed the line.

Something few Presidents ever done.

The Tet Offensive was an American victory that Cronkite turned into a American defeat.

"Deeply disagree. In this case, they must work with him, that's what he's telling them. Or, they can not work at all, which is what the Youtube video was telling them."

One easy thing to do is to change the attendance at any scheduled Presidential Press Conference. Put the names of ALL U.S. journalists (down to local TV news personnel) in a drum, shake'em up, and draw names. Offer to cover their transportation and lodging for the conference.

The idea of an elite "Washington Press Corps" is B.S. anyway.

wrong, the relationship was based on mistrust that the people, and the press as their proxy, had of the government. Now that the press has become so cozy with government they've forgotten that important fact of WHY THEY EXIST!

No they don’t. They want you/us to believe it while they continue being as partisan as possible, defining *partisan* as *neutral*.

Once you see the hatred and contempt in their eyes, it cannot be unseen.

On NBC this morning, they were STILL at it. Nicole Wallace did say the media did base a lot on their inaccurate polling data. Then she went on to gin up the audience with accusations that President Elect Trump isn't harsh enough on extremists.

Their reporting still assumes that graffiti with Nazi symbols/"Trump" are the work of Trump supporters. Huh??? The logical assumption would be that it's the work of those who think that Trump is a Nazi. They can't be that dumb.

Not ONE positive word about the promises that will be fulfilled in the first day in office. But they sure were concerned about plans that haven't already been laid out.

I have got to find something else to watch in the AM. Like cartoons or reruns of Gilligan's Island.

Disagree. The press has become cozy with a POLITICAL PARTY....not government. Or to put it another way, they are cozy with government only when the government is from their chosen party. If not, then they are antagonists.

How come 0bama never had the “naturally adversarial relationship” that the author speaks of. All he had was a bunch of fawning ass-kissers.

I love that Trump is staying in NYC. He has access to media, finance, business, arts...changes Presidential dynamics. He can use the White House like his office.

LOL, they haven’t taken the time to look in my eyes when I see them at work, that is for sure!

My wife just rolls her eyes now, or even shuts off the television when I am in the room!

Fox does what it was meant to do. It pulls conservatives in during the off election years then once they have their trust they bombard them with constant left views during election years discouraging them from voting and keeping other alternatives from forming quickly.

This has been the M.O. since forming.
