Yesterday the 17th of November, Rush Limbaugh touched on the minimal control Democrats across the United States now have, as it relates to Governors and State Legislatures.
I thought it might be a good idea for us to review how things stand right now.
Here is a graphic of a Spread Sheet I developed. It provides information and documentation on sitting Governors and the make-up of the state Legislatures as of January 2017.
As of this moment, the 2017 Governor of North Carolina is still to be determined

Is there enough support to:
Propose a constitutional amendment via Article V convention? The answer appears to be yes - given the right topic.
Overcome the 3/4 requirement for state approval (38 states)? Maybe, again this would need a good issue that the majority of Americans can rally around. I am thinking that protecting the US citizen’s right to vote might be such an issue.
I suspect that a constitutional amendment which would establish the rules for voting in federal elections (us citizen, id to register and vote, separate rolls from state rolls, automatic purge of the rolls post inauguration, etc) would be one such amendment.
It is only good if they resolve to do something. Get conservative judges in red states, get SJW snoflake free schols in red states.
I hope so too.
You’re welcome.
Thanks PROCON
Thank you.
I’m not sure about that, but it certainly should be close, if not all the way.
I may be the only one, but I remain leery of opening up the Constitution to a climate of Leftists like we have in this nation right now.
Just because we have a lot of Rs showing up on that spread sheet, I don’t trust anyone with our Constitution these days.
I’ve seen too many wobbly kneed Republicans in my day.
I agree. We have clear majorities before and done nothing with it. This is the best situation we have been in since the 1920s as I understand it. If we don't get a lot of what we want right now, it'll never happen.
This is as good as a campaign promise to be kept.
Call for a convention of the states
Re: Connecticut Senate is tied 18-18, why does it say D, unless it is because the Lt. Governor can cast a vote in case of a tie?
Article V requires 2/3 (34) of the states.
Did Trump promise to do this?
As I said to another person, I’m not in favor of hauling the U.S. Constitution out to be amended.
I don’t trust our leaders with that document..., at all!
The president is actually locked out of the amendment process. Congress passes and the states ratify amendments.
I wish Trump weren’t so wishy-washy on this critical issue. And it is every bit as critical as anything else we have to deal with.
Your guess looks pretty safe:
Wyman is the Lt. Governor
Electoral history
Connecticut’s Lieutenant Governor Democratic Primary Election, 2010
Votes......Party...........Candidate
110,768 Democratic Nancy Wyman
064,137 Democratic Mary Messina Glassman
In a convention of the states works various amendments are debated, then, if selected, voted on by the convention, if passed then must be ratified by 3/4 (38)of the states legislative bodies or by 3/4 (38) individual state conventions.
The Constitution does not allow for any amendment that would eliminate the Constitution.
I don’t know how some of these things will play out.
It wouldn’t surprise me that by the time Trump leaves office there will be some things that didn’t get acted upon. I don’t know what his plans for this are. We’re not going to be 100% happy with him.
It’s also my take that he will address many things we have wanted him to. We’ll be very happy about those things.
