Considering each administration often has multiple people rotate through these positions over time, they might all get their shot.
I can’t in a million years imagine Trump picking Romney as his Secretary of State. But that seems to be preferred spot of local/regional pols (Haley or Romney as former guv, Rudy as mayor) to burnish their political resumes.
This must be a specific request of Romney’s, so it is reasonable that Trump in reconciliation mode has agreed to meet.
IMO there is no way in this universe that Trump picks Romney for this role.

BREAKING: A source close to the president-elect with direct knowledge of his thinking has reported that president-elect Trump has just signed his first Executive Order, effective date 21 January 2017.
The EO is lengthy and has been in the works for several months. Essentially, President Trump has drafted Barack H. Obama into the US Military. Obama will serve in a security and peace keeping assignment (known as the Gay Blades) in the Republic of Kenya.
