What’s the betting line on this forecast?

Wow, That’s a load off my mind. Here I thought we wouldn’t see 2018 according to the Mayan calendar.

I read that by flying to the nearest star that “might” have a planet, in the “Goldilocks Zone,” like Earth it would take a very long time.

Using the gravity of the Sun to boost the speed of “Helios 2” to 150,000 mph, H2 became the fastest man made object.
At 150,000 mph it would only take 19,000 years to reach Alpha Proxima. So, dream on about colonizing another planet.
We are talking astronomical distances.
Now, 1,000 years from now it could be hot or cold here on Earth.
I think Mr. Hawking is just making a guess here and nobody alive now will be around to cheer or jeer his “science.”

Great, I just went through truncated posts and a lost sidebar, now this.

A billion years? Good thing it isn’t a billion seconds.
That would only be 32 years.

A trillion seconds would be 32,000 years.

I think that the Universe is expanding now. The Stars seem to be getting dimmer to these old eyes.

The more I hear from Hawking on topics other than astrophysics, the more I think he’s an idiot-savant.

Wow. When trillion became the new billion, I don’t think most of us had any idea of what a huge number that is.

I would like to know how Hawking is still alive. He has to be the longest living ALS survivor on record.
