White students at Pomona College have launched a new student group dedicated to “owning our racism” and “deconstructing our whiteness.”
The organization—which calls itself “We’ve Got Work To Do: White People for Deconstructing Whiteness”—held its inaugural gathering Tuesday evening on Pomona’s campus, though students from all five schools in the Claremont College consortium are welcome to join.

The idea is that they aren’t supposed to ACT white.
I think that’s so wrongheaded that far from it, OTHERS ought to be encouraged to “act white.”

The university in general should be closed down as the most discriminatory institution in American life.
“Our legacy of violence” Last night watching the local news, every crime reported was committed by blacks. All the way from car break ins to murder. Every single report. I guess we whites have curbed our violence. Now, your turn.
Since their lives are such a burden and they sound like a cult, maybe they should follow the Jonestown example.
All you snowflakes should just go ahead and commit suicide to remove your guilty feelings and would also remove your carbon footprint to save the planet. It’s a win win.
The problem is that the kind of social (il)logic has transferred over into the engineering/hard science vector to blur the sharpness of appropriateness of what to study and how to apply it there.
For that matter, federal $$$ should *only* go to sponsor academic programs that produce STEM or business degrees. Anyone who wants to major in any grievance 'studies' program should have to pony up every penny.

This is a collective neurosis. This obsession and self loathing over guilt attributed to all members of an artificially-constructed group is the sign of a non-working mind.

Not me. I'm so white that my skin doesn't tan at all. I'm extremely offended when people, with skin that tans, start denouncing others for being "white."
You guys got this all wrong. This “deconstruction” will devolve into factions supporting Brie and others Camembert, debates on whether eating arugula is a kind of cultural appropriation for those whites of Nordic background, and arguments over support or protest concerning basketball, since it’s a white man’s invention but played by blacks.
This is nothing to fear, but enjoy.
I attended the Claremont Colleges lo these 45 years ago and was the founding chair and one of two members (the other member was a Chicano from east LA) of the Viking Student Union. I doubt I would fare well there today.
Or buy a tan. The tax on tanning salons is RACIST against white folk.
If they refuse to be white, then they are cultural appropriators.
