I agree. I expected him to be AG. There is nothing to preven him from being appointed.

[Rudy would not be seen as an “Impartial AG” by many in the Senate.]

Like Lynch and Holder?

Will Sessions go after the corruption? If not, keep him out of the AG position.

Democrat Presidents get to pick whomever they want for Cabinet positions, whether qualified or not. Republicans have to worry about filibusters. Remember that Ted Olson’s confirmation was delayed until after 9/11 (when his wife Barbara was killed on the plane that was flown into the Pentagon) and John Bolton had to settle for a recess appointment to be US ambassador to the UN.

A president deserves to nominate whomever he wants.

In the words of Obama, elections have consequences.

F' the democrats. Put Giuliani in as Attorney General and hang all the democrat miscreants. Push his nomination through the swamp and out Giuliani in charge as Attorney General. We deserve it after 8 years of injustice from Obama and mis minions like Loretta Lynch.

If he couldn’t be confirmed for AG, how could he be confirmed for S of S? Don’t both require Senate approval?

The Dems had no problem with a filibuster. Turnabout is fair play.

The Dems “deemed” Obamacare passed. No problem for the Republicans now.

Don't think Giuliani is a good fit at State.

UNLESS Trumps wants him there to drain the swamp at Foggy Bottom. There are a lot of entrenched swamp creatures at State, dating back to the time Alger Hiss was there.

Giuliani might be the best person Trump has to get rid of them. Though it's an extremely tough task. I believe Reagan tried, and couldn't do it.

But why does Rudy think it would be hard for him to get Senate confirmation?

We don't know what Rudy thinks. This 'article' is a NEWSMAX piece which is based on the opinion of the writers who have talked to people who have talked to people who .... in other words, hearsay.

You are correct. If the GOP had the same stones that Reid had, they could have all the nominees confirmed in a week. Say what you want about the Reid Senate, but they didn’t go off the reservation, remained unified, and gave no quarter. McConnell needs to emulate Reid in that respect..

Trey Gowdy would be a good, no nonsense law and order AG who would hopefully restore the D of J

Confused. We have a Republican majority. Why would he be denied?

Probably because more than a few of those Republicans are afraid they are going to end up on the wrong end of one of Rudy's investigations. DC corruption appears to be totally bi-partisan.

Agreed! The Rats set the precedent, and the Pubes better ram through ALL candidates. Anyone who thinks the Rats will not do it next time, because we played by the rules this time, is one stupid damn fool!

This makes no sense. You need to be confirmed as Secretary of State, and it would be a lot easier for the Democrats to justify a filibuster for that role, since Giuliani is probably unqualified to serve, or at least has no real experience in foreign policy.

I don’t like the idea that we need to reward political opportunists for “supporting us”, but if we are, at least put them into positions they are highly qualified for.

Also, it seems risky from a conservative perspective to put a rather moderate at best republican into a highly political job like Secretary of State. AG isn’t political, or shouldn’t be, and I trust that Giuliani would be great at that position.

Giuliani Rises for State Because Attorney General Nominee Would Be Denied.

This story is pure HOGWASH.
Rudy would make a perfect AG.
Prosecutorial experience as a U.S. Attorney.
Administrative experience as the mayor of New York City.
Who could ask for anything more?
Between Rudy and Bannon, they would slaughter many of the slimy swamp critters.
