Reince Priebus AND Steven Bannon will lead Trump's White House: The Donald makes insider RNC (Tr.)
Daily Mail ^ | 11-13-2016 | Geoff Earle

President-elect Donald Trump is to name Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus as his chief of staff, his campaign announced Sunday.

But the real estate mogul is elevating Steven Bannon, who helped chart Trump's rise to victory with relentless attacks on his opponents, to a prominent role as his 'chief strategist.'

The news of the appointment of Priebus, one of the most important moves of Trump's new transition, signals a more traditional approach to governing – though it might not be what some of Trump's millions of anti-establishment supporters were expecting when Trump promised to 'drain the swamp' in Washington by taking on entrenched forces.

An Establishment insider and a voice of the alt-right. Not the best choices.

How many smart, astute businessmen did Reagan bring into his WH circle and cabinet? Many, and they were golden - the cream of the crop that to this day still stand out as golden individuals. I wish Trump would do the same. I don’t trust these political hacks. I really don’t trust Priebus.

You talking about Reince/Bannon or Trump/Pence?

Why not?

That combination also worked well together on his campaign. Sounds like a nice balance to me of perspectives and experience. President elect Trump is the decision maker. Nothing goes forward without his ok.

Reince was pressured big by the establishment to screw Trump over throughout the whole primary season and he never gave in to them,, Trump saw that and rewarded him for the honest loyalty to the process.. plus the guy gets things done which is another thing Trump demands from his employees

Kellyanne would have been the best choice for chief of staff, but on the other hand, Reince has stuck with him since the nomination when he was getting enormous pressure from the party to dump him at the convention and might be a better bridge to our tenuous “allies” in the GOP.

Priebus played a major role in the Donald’s victory - he earned the job and Trump recognized it.

Any clues as to who will replace Priebus at the RNC?

This judgmental-ism is unwarranted. This isn’t the French Revolution where everyone needs purging. Trump isn’t some empty suit that anybody can shape his agenda and block access. If Reince is his choice, Trump knows why he is the better choice. I would assume Trump liked the way Priebus balanced all the outer forces in his campaign.

Exactly - also, other FReepers have pointed out that when Trump made his Victory speech, he called up Reince, and Reince seems to genuinely be very fond of Trump.

I love these choices. Reince Priebus’s term as head of the RNC has been objectively an incredible success. Left for dead on the side of the road, the GOP now controls everything in Washington, and the vast majority of state capitals. Bannon has been responsible maybe more than any other single individual in building the populist wave that Trump rode into the White House, and he understands the political/media landscape in which Trump is operating.

Neither has worked in Washington, so they’re all coming in with a fresh view of the swamp. Great picks!

I’m fine with the pick. Heck, even Reagan had an insider initially as his Chief of Staff. Chief of Staff manages the paper flow and will be his liaison with congress. It is Cabinet Secretaries that I’m most interested in.

Hillary was a 747 crashing directly onto your house with the pilot screaming Allahu Akbar.

Compared to that, Trump’s worst possible decision is very, very good. And I don’t think he’s going to start of with bad decisions. I think he can control Rinsed Penis. He’s using him for something. I trust no politician, but Trump’s no politician. He sees America as a business, and his reputation is on the line. That’s good for Americans.

Reince also saved the Party then. So did he back Trump out of loyalty to Trump, or loyalty to the Party? Hmm?

Anyway he’s shown he’s a very talented and competent fellow.
But I think Trump shows wisdom by having Bannon keep an eye on him.
And I frankly can’t think of any uther formal role in the admin to give Bannon, who deserves rewarding.

Why is the Priebus appointment an excellent and very astute idea?

1. Priebus will be under Trump’s immediate scrutiny. One false step, adios!

2. Guess what spot will be vacant.

3. Guess who gets to heavily influence who will be chosen to fill it.

As I understand it, Ryan is hanging by a thread, most likely to be replaced.

All that remains is Mitch McConnell of the big three.

If he starts doing a rendition of his past tricks, he’ll be back benched vaster than we can say, dumb sh-t!
