Trump-backing congressman says GOP will use budget 'reconciliation' to repeal Obamacare in first 100 days – depriving Democrats of the chance to filibuster it

* Rep. Chris Collins, the first Republican to endorse President-elect Trump, says the GOP will move legislation to repeal Obamacare within Trump's first 100 days

* Party would use budget procedure that would let them jam it through on a simple majority vote, depriving Senate Democrats of the filibuster

* Medical device tax, 30-hour workweek for coverage, employer mandate, employee mandate all could go, gutting the plan

* Says there would be a 'transition' for 2017

The Republican push to repeal Obamacare is going on a fast track under a procedure that would make minority Democrats powerless to stop it, the first Republican congressman to endorse President-elect Donald Trump said Friday.

Republicans who now have unified control of Congress plan to move to repeal Obamacare during the first 100 days of the incoming Trump administration, said Rep. Chris Collins (R-NY).

They would do this under a budget procedure called 'reconciliation,' which requires a simple majority vote to approve tax and spending changes.

Didn’t they use reconciliation to pass it in the first place?

Not only that, but they gutted a House bill on veterans benefits and replaced the entire text with Obamacare, when it got to the Senate. Unconstitutional, since spending bills must originate in the House. They simply kept the designation of the bill, HR 3590. The whole thing was invalid from the start.

I’m of the opinion that the biggest problem with our trade deals is that we don’t enforce them, like so many of our other laws. A strictly policed approach to what we have now would be a good starting point for negotiations.

"Imho, you do yourself no favors with such a disparaging supposition a mere 72 hours after the electoral victory of a lifetime."

Thank you for your comment.

Please note that I gladly helped to hire Trump because he works good and fast. So 72 for hours to us is like probably like 72 days of work for Trump, New York minute and all that.

But noting that “conservative” does not necessarily mean “constitutionalist,” my long-predicted problem with Trump is that he has not given a clear signal that he is up to speed with the federal government’s constitutionally limited powers. And since he’s not going to learn about those limited powers from the corrupt Washington cartel, it’s up to us Constitution-savvy patriots to get him enlighten him on those limited powers.

And we’ve got to get him up to speed fast. Otherwise, he going to be another “wrong way Riegels.”

That’s encouraging. That’s what we want them to do.

” There’s nothing wrong with an insurance company in Iowa selling an insurance policy to a customer in New York, but it’s going to have to meet the regulatory requirements of the State of New York. If the Constitution means anything to us here on FreeRepublic, then this is not negotiable. “

I’m quite sure (hopeful) that your point should be quite negotiable. If the two state’s requirements cannot be worked out, it doesn’t happen. That puts the onus on the states to synch up.

Have a little talk with’em before issuing the new credentials, is that what you mean? Tune’em up a little bit?

EXCELLENT - get rid of it using the same sneaky techniques Piglosi, Reid, and Obie used. Turn about is certainly fair play.

Great list. It brings tears to my eyes.

What about Roberts on the Supreme Court. What can we do about him?

And my main point, the one that prompted my reply, was that this ..

my long-predicted problem with Trump is that he has not given a clear signal that he is up to speed with the federal government’s constitutionally limited powers

.. is total supposition on your part, and that to state it as fact on the third day after our victory does no one any favors.

Having said that, it would be absolutely wonderful if Making America Great Again includes, as part of its philosophical underpinning, a strong adherence to the tenets of the 10th.

This is great news. We need to keep the pressure on congress to do it though.
