Donald Trump’s presidential victory not only helped preserve the Republican Party’s majority in the Senate, but it also buoyed the GOP’s control of state legislatures.
Republicans now hold an all-time high of 68 out of 99 state legislative chambers, The Associated Press reported. Republicans also have control of both chambers in 33 states, up from 31.

Iowa not only reversed the State Senate Democrat majority, but defeated the most powerful Democrat in the state while doing it.
Iowa is an example of a state actually becoming more conservative, not just more Republican. It was once the home of the RNC’s ‘Abortion Granny’ Mary Louise Smith. Now, even longtime Iowa RINOs seem to have made a genuine move to the right.
Nevada is run by Las Vegas. Think unions and illegals.
And Gov. Bevin and others have stated Right to Work legislation will be promulgated soon in Ky. Defund the ‘Crats I say!
Missouri now has a Republican Governor. Right to Work will surely pass come next session. Still some weak-kneed Republicans in Jeff City but methinks Greitens will kick their sorry asses on this issue and others as well!
Every purple state controlled by Republicans should change to allocating electoral votes the way used by Maine and Nebraska.
That will dilute the shenanigans in the urban areas of those states.
Here is my proposed list of states with Republican control of both the House and the Senate. The number after the state is the margin of victory in the 2016 Presidential election:
The House and Senate are controlled by Republicans in Minnesota and Pennsylvania, but the governor is a Democrat. So, that's probably not possible to change at this time.
The Republicans would give up the some electoral votes in these battleground states, but would secure others -- and limit the effect of vote fraud to the areas already controlled by Democrats.
In my home state of Kentucky, the GOP controls the Kentucky House of Representatives for the first time since 1920.
How many are actually needed?
And the good news just keeps coming!
KY house speaker Greg Stumbo, also turned out, led his party to a slaughter here. People were fed up with his filing lawsuits and democrats blocking anything that threatened the good ol’ boys network.
the 2018 election will feature many 4 year term seats up for grabs. the winners will be involved in the redistricting process in the 2021-2022 timeframe.
Now is the time. The 2/3 of the House and Senate isn't going to happen because they are too evenly split. However, with 2/3 of the states in Republican hands a convention of states could be called. 3/4 of the states would still need to pass any proposed amendment which would still be difficult. Maybe a congressional term limit or balanced budget amendment?
West Virginia during the 2014,election both houses became republican, for the first time in 80 years. The house by a very large amount, the senate very narrowly.
This election the unions pulled out all the stops to defeat R’s as the got rid of prevailing wage laws for state contracts and passed RTW legislation, the dems gained one seat in the house and were destroyed in the senate.
The pundits are calling this the last gasp of the unions, a dramatic turnaround in a few elections.
Even her in blue Minnesota, the GOP increased its hold on the state House and flipped eight Dem seats and won control of the state Senate.
Regarding the Senate, most of those wins ocurred in the outstate areas - areas that are tradtionally GOP and that did vote for Trump.
Of course, the GOP only controls the state Senate by one vote. They’ll need to practice some definite cohesion over the next two years.
The best part of all of this is that Gov Mark Dayton, a liberal trust fund Democrat, will more or less have his agenda blocked for the next two years. if nothing else good came from that election, I’m happy about that.
The Pennsylvania Senate has a veto-proof Republican majority for the first time ever.
And imagine, the “nevertrump” brigade were warning the loss of the Senate, and various other tragedies upon the GOP.
They were just plain wrong, like their allies in the democrat establishment the crooked media, etc.
Then make yourselves useful and engage in the process of MAKING ELECTIONS FAIR AND LEGAL!
