I think the "whiteness" that he is railing against here is not the race so much as the qualities that people adopt in order to achieve success in life, such as the willingness to work hard and sacrifice in order to secure a better tomorrow. People like this author equate those qualities to white people, when, in reality, anyone of any race can adopt them and succeed.
