The Trump Landslide
American Thinker ^ | November 9, 2016 | Bruce Walker

Presidential landslides traditionally require a ten-point margin of victory in the popular vote, but this year, political traditions don't matter. President-Elect Trump has carried at least 28 of the 50 states, and if the leads hold, he will have carried 30 of the 50 states, or 60 percent. This landslide includes states Democrats assumed were reasonably solid for Hillary like Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.

Republicans will control the Senate without needing the tie-breaking vote of Vice President-Elect Pence, although the margin of control will depend upon the final count in New Hampshire. It will not matter, though, whether the majority is 52 seats or just 51, because in 2018, Democrats face the prospect of losing as many as a dozen seats because of the composition of the Senate class that year. This election required Republicans to defend seats in difficult states like Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Illinois, and New Hampshire. In 2018, not a single Republican Senate seat will be in jeopardy, which will give President Trump and the Republican Senate breathing room to act boldly.

The loss of only six seats in the House leaves House Republicans with 235 seats. Because Louisiana will have runoffs in two districts and Republicans are running ahead in two California districts still undeclared, it is likely that Republicans will end up with 237 seats, or a loss of only four. Reapportionment and redistricting after the 2020 election will almost certainly have Republicans even more firmly in control of redistricting of House and state legislative districts than ever before, which means that Republicans in the House will see their numbers grow after Trump wins re-election in 2020.

This election is the perfect example of what the Electoral College was designed to do, give each state a proportional say in the election based on the number of representatives each state has.

Brilliant design and execution!

Remember a few scant weeks ago, when the MSM was happily announcing that the GOP and Conservatives are out of step with history, dodo birds who should just accept their fate as nearly extinct?

Pence is definitely Presidential timbre (as opposed to plugs who left no options BUT hiLIARY for this race). It won’t take much to ensure we hold home court advantage for at least 16 years. That may produce as many as 3 SCOTUS picks.

Let’s just hope Trump comes through and doesn’t go Roberts on us.

When you consider he now only beat Hillary, but Hollywood, The GOPe, Megyn, Rosie, CBS, NBC, Faux, MSNBC ... it is absolutely a landslide.

Exactly and that is why the rats hate it. They think only the popular vote should count

I believe there was an overwhelming but ultimately pointless vote fraud executed in California designed just to give her the popular vote so the argument could be made.

RICO charges against vote fraudsters and the systematic removal of long-time Communists from the alphabet agencies have to be Trump's primary goals for the first six months.

The final count is 306 electoral votes for President elect Donald J. Trump

306 electoral votes. A decent haul considering he won the broad middle of the country.

Coastal lefties don’t like him but they’ll have zero influence in the incoming Trump Administration.

Yes, but a larger pop vote sure would have helped.

What these two electoral facts mean together is that Republicans have more dominance in state legislatures than at any time since the end of the Civil War.

The landslide is clear and complete. President Trump will have a Congress to implement his agenda; a Department of Justice that can now actually investigate the vast, corrupt sludge left by Obama and Hillary; a defeated establishment media whose hissing threats Trump can shrug off and even turn back on them; and state governments that can work hand in hand with him to reform American government and politics.

Since the Civil War? "The landslide is clear and complete".

☺☺

Watching 0bama, Hillary, and the dem0crats crumble to pieces is as momentous an occasion as seeing the Third Reich fall.

Which means his only “must win” state was Texas - not FL, not OH, not PA or any others, as his margin was large enough to still prevail had he not won any one of those.

It was so sweet when the MSM realized (about 9 p yesterday) that it was actually Trump who’d have multiple paths to 270, and Clinton who would have a hard time getting there once her blue wall cracked with the loss of WI.

I watched Lou Dobbs on Fox Business Channel most of the night, but around 9 pm, I started flipping through the other channels just to enjoy the look of gloom and pitiful lil stuffed shirt anchors as the realization hit them. LOL

Best Election night since Reagan. I really enjoyed back then, seeing the dismay on Dan Blather, Peter Jennings and all the other Lame anchors and talking heads. I forget which one said the American people had a temper tantrum.

Does Maine apportion their electoral votes by Congressional district? And if they do, are they the only state to do this?

If this is an option it seems to me that it would be the only way that Republicans/conservatives could have votes that count anymore in California. A ballot proposition would be the way to achieve this because the California legislature would never pass it. But a well financed proposition campaign would have a good chance at succeeding.
