There is no popular vote. It’s a fictional statistic pushed for sensationalism.

Yes there is. You add up all the votes in the 50 states and DC when they come in and then you add them up! So shut up

This is mainly due to over-votes in California and New York. Fortunately, we don’t elect based on popular vote, or the level of cheating by democrats would be orders of magnitude greater, since every cheated vote would count.

Hey, Rachael Maddow has to have SOMETHING to cling to.

The Electoral College was originally devised to prevent a few large population centers from determining the presidential election, which is basically the election of the Federal Government.

It still isn’t working as originally intended, because all the electors cast their votes according to the majority popular vote in their state, which is still dominated by a few large population centers.

Thankfully, this still mitigates the popular vote enough to allow a populist or conservative president to win on occasion.

If electors were truly elected and cast their votes according to the popular vote of their respective DISTRICTS, the Democrats wouldn’t have a chance, as plainly revealed by the “County” maps of elections in the U.S.

The vast preponderance of counties in the U.S. almost always chooses the Republican.
