Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump, who has indicated in recent days that he thinks Minnesota is his to win, will make his first public visit to the state Sunday.

“We’re going to Minnesota,” Trump said at a rally in Florida, according to reporters who were there. Trump’s Minnesota campaign confirmed the visit.

Minnesota Republican Party Chairman Keith Downey said the rally will be at 2 p.m. at the Sun Country hangar at the Minneapolis-St. Paul airport, according to initial information from the Trump campaign.

Last poll I saw had Trump up 14 in CD 8. Duluth Arrowhead. Very Dem area of the state. Grade school poll had him in a landslide. Those kids are hearing it at home and high school poll also had him up big in MN anything is possible this year!

Oberstar was defeated in the liberal of liberal areas in the iron range just a few years ago - the tide is shifting.

Congressional districts are a whole 'nuther ballgame. They are much more local, and shifting demographics can have an affect on that scale.

I was an election judge for several years, always in South Minneapolis precincts. One was on the edge of downtown in a massively Democrat area. Our precinct manager was a Democrat. He treated EVERY ballot like a newborn baby in a pro life family. He did so even with Republican "write-ins." I would trust him anywhere. He proved there may still exist an honest Democrat, a dying breed.

I quit as an election judge when Norm Coleman had that Senate election stolen with the encouragement of the Minnesota judiciary.

That was a statewide race. If such is a blowout, no need to bring out the election grease and oil. For a close call, you only need corruption an a precinct or three to make all the difference. There are obviously corrupt precincts and a corupt bunch of court judges to say, "That's OK."

P.S. I am Vice-Chair of my BPOU. Our goal has always been to maximize our vote turnout in Minneapolis and Richfield to do our best to help statewide races.

At our last meeting I suggested I may bow out of that if clinton wins. If someone as openly corrupt as clinton can win, we are all just wasting our time because we no longer have a country, defacto. That will become real to everyone soon enough when she gets her way on so many issues.

I guess I'm of the cynical persuasion.

Electoral votes by congressional district in 2012 would have seen President Romney running for reelection this year.

I was the chair of the largest single BPOU in the state (northern metro) and I’ve run into a few noble, old world democrats even in the midst of partisan contests. I was mayor of a first ring suburb for a term - even endorsed by the IRs. I quit the party after 30 years of time, money and service due to “establishment” mentality pervading things these days so I’m equally cynical in some ways. I bring up Oberstar only as an example that the seemingly impossible can be pulled off. I called that race 2 months before the election and was soundly mocked for my assertions. I saw the campaign signs out early for his opponent and in areas I was surprised about. It hinted at something going on. I’ve seen the exact same thing for Trump here in the western half of the state the past 2 months and in areas that aren’t particularly conservative. There’s a chance... a real one.

Minnesota could be in play, New York, and New Jersey as well.

If Trump wins Minnesota I will be all over FR and GOP Briefing Room with "Mea Maxima Culpas" I might even think there is a possibility of getting our mashed potato mouthed governor and his ilk out of the way of true progress.

It says right here I'm pulling for your optimism...Great Caesar's Ghost, I hope it's real!!!

If Trump wins Minnesota, Pennsylvania and Michigan and Nevada and Colorado and Iowa and North Carolina will be be slam dunks!!!

Larry Elder, Jon Voigt and Sheriff Clarke were in Nevada and a Denver suburb yesterday, with about 2,000 in attendance in CO.

Third-stringers draw more than Hillary (when she is without megastars on stage with her).

Trump has to ensure UP Michigan turnout is at record levels. The way to do this is through Twin Cities media outlets.

UP Michigan is at least an 8-10 hour drive from Minnesota.

I don’t know if Sheriff Clarke would have name recognition in Minnesota, Milwaukee is nearby. The same may well pertain to other name politicians in Wisconsin and elsewhere.

Mainly among political junkies.

Yes, PowerLine originates out of Minneapolis/St.Paul.

The attraction is the Arrowhead region (all the out-of-work miners) in addition to all the non-Minneapolis/St.Paul voters (some suburbs are quite red) and most rural areas.

It's a twofer for Western Wisconsin as well since the MSP airport is maybe 20 miles from the WI border.

The collapse of ObamaCare is a big deal here in MN. BCBS withdrew from the state, the MNSure website still doesn’t work, and premium rates are insane. The huge Somali refugee influx is also taking its toll. MN has a reputation for clean govt and voters here dislike pols with even a whiff of corruption. The wildcard will be the black vote in Hennepin and Ramsey counties. If it goes 20%+ for Trump I think he will win.

Sorry bout that. I've been relentlessly flaming any Debbie Downers; I sent that to you before I read all the way down thread to what you said about Richfield.

It shows my stupidity that I'm not out enjoying the near 70 degree weather today. But I'll go see Trump at the Sun Country terminal tomorrow. Guess I"ll have to skip church to beat the crowds. Any idea what I can do for parking?

Park anywhere along the Hiawatha rail line. I’d suggest parking at the megamall. Then jump on the Hiawatha to MSP terminal.

I saw some news story, this guy from Minnesota had gone to see Trump 5 times, maybe every time was in Wisconsin or maybe also in Iowa.

Whatever, stay safe, I’m sort of pumped, we could go see this conceivably.
