I don’t believe that for one moment. Next week’s releases were going to be epid, and would put Comey in a box. He must have been apoplectic over this approaching debacle of unprecedented proportions. This is going to be a historic mess.
He needed an excuse to act because he couldn’t allow the appearance of outside leakers forcing him to do this. So he concocts the Weiner story as a cover to reopen the investigation.
It must suck to be him.
This could be a Halloween surprise for the stock markets on Monday.

The REAL surprise was discovering the FBI was dirty. The fact they've re-opened this can of worms is proof the world might still be sane.
Whatever happens his career is surely over in January. He is likely trying to ensure that his life is not coterminous with his career.
Agree. Comey created an epic mess. He has destroyed the credibility of the agency he headed, embroiled the country in political chaos, and sanctioned a two tier legal system by allowing Hillary to walk away unscathed.

Except that he didn't. He made that claim some months back, then backed off it after his press conference. All that happened a couple days ago is that his old claim got cited by someone else.

Actually, if I remember correctly, it was a caller into Limbaugh that made that assessment.
While so many are excited, yet again, over the possibility that Hillary is finally gonna get hers, I think this may actually represent a dangerous development. If Hillary is forced to drop out of the race and violence “spontaneously” erupts, Obama might seize on this as an opportunity to realize his dream of a third term as “el Presidente for Life”. He might declare a state of emergency and cancel the election, and then we’re “off to the races” into various dire scenarios such as you’ve described in your novels and essays.
Will Hillary’s emails, on Huma’s laptop, show Comey is in her pocket?
Did Comey get an email from kim dot com or Assange? Will Comey visit Ft. Marcy Park?
