Trump Fights
American Thinker ^ | Betsy Gorisch

Posted on 10/29/2016 6:42:21 AM PDT by RoosterRedux

Trump understands explicitly that there is virtue in fighting back, and implicitly that people are longing for someone who will do so -- someone like him -- even though they may not quite pinpoint it that way. I think he is onto something serious with that one, and I will tell you why.

Most people understand that one of the Republican establishment’s most pervasive problems with its own constituency is its perceived unwillingness to fight back against relentless attacks from the progressive left and its Democratic Party cohorts -- consider, for example, those who accused George W. Bush of fabricating the cause for the Iraq War. What that establishment does not seem to understand, though, is the extent to which people see these attacks on both the officials they elected and their policies as comprising attacks on the people themselves.

Bush refused to respond to political attacks against him during the Iraq War, and to attacks on its rationale. When Karl Rove advised him to refrain from responding to such attacks so as not to “relitigate the past,” Bush pursued his own policies diligently but remained quiet in the face of these political attacks -- which, as a result, grew in both intensity and hostility.

In refusing to respond to the attacks against him, Bush was also failing to see that the attacks were not only against him. They were also against the American military that was fighting a foreign war under his command and against those large numbers of the American people who supported both the American military and Bush himself in that effort.

Imagine how many elections the GOP could have won if they ever bothered to fight like this?

The beginning of Trump happened when the GOP ran the table in 2000 and nothing happened to fight 50 years of leftism.

The author of this article, Betsy Gorisch, should have used another way to demonstrate the ‘pajama boy syndrome’ that has plagued the GOP for decades.

Bush’s invasion of Iraq is controversial, and legitimately so; even by his own father warned him not to invade.

But the point of her article is well taken. We’re sick of hearing “well, we’re going to keep our powder dry” or “we don’t want to upset the independents” or “the Dem lies are actually GOOD for us because...”.

It’s a new day GOPe - too bad you didn’t recognize it.

There are so many christians that think because Jesus said turn the other cheek that he meant to do this every time. That’s NOT TRUE. We are to fight against evil when and where we find it. He has given us the tools to fight evil in his name.

Yep - one must believe he is in it because of actual patriotism - like he said, he had a very comfortable life, and would have continued it, without going through all the crap of a campaign.

GO TRUMP-PENCE!!!

I donated twice in the last three days.

I also received my signed campaign edition of his book "The Ar of the Deal" yesterday - it should become a collectors item.

Bingo! If the rebublican establishment is unhappy with Trump they have no one to blame but themselves.

We need to re-establish and enforce Americanism throughout the land. But first, we need to beat leftism to a bloody pulp, grind it into a fine dust, and incinerate it.

You bring up an excellent point.

I agree and think two things about that:

1)Jesus was speaking only to the Jews at the time (Mat 15, “...I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.”),

and 2)turning the other cheek was for when they were actually preaching the Gospel.

from article:
“ This country’s government is not, after all, a mere show put on for an audience. Likewise, elections are not box offices where viewers buy tickets by casting votes. “

The author fails to recognize that elections have become part of the street theater put on by the uni-party.

Trump’s appeal is that he does not stick to the script written for pols in the -R branch of the uni-party.

That is the worst aspect of Karl Rove-ism. His plan in any election is to win a 50.1% squeaker by boring the electorate and the opposition to death. He loves his little street-by-street, house-by-house breakdowns...cross fingers and hope for the best. After it’s over neither he nor his candidate have a flipping clue. Or a mandate.

Dang well said.

The excuses for non-performance have run their course.

And so has the boy scout, Pauleth Ryan.

OF COURSE, this is a reason. Even empty headed females want to see someone, anyone, fighting for them.

The GOPelite never raises their voice, never unsheathes their sword. They would be more acquainted with the parrot on the ship.
