All Presidential elections aren’t really about individuals but cliques.
Bush and Obama certainly were mostly figureheads.

JFK had Addison’s disease. He also received stimulants and regular cortisone shots for his spinal degradation. He was in constant pain. Joe Kennedy saw to it that drugs were available as needed anywhere in the world that JFK was travelling.
