I don't know how they compute these figures, but a couple of numbers really jump out at me.

Between 2000 and 2015, the "adult non-institutionalized" population of the U.S. grew from about 213 million to 251 million people -- an increase of about 38 million, or about 2.5 million per year. The number of employed people has grown by less than 15 million over that same period, or one million per year. I don't see how this can possibly be good for a nation.

There is a complete disconnect between the sh!t these people are peddling and what is actually happening out there.

At the very least, they’re delusional liars.

My fear isn’t a new American Revolution. It is an American French type Revolution.

Heads may roll.

I’m sure those tickets were sold so the team got their money.

Remember the story out of Saddam Hussein's Iraq? "They only need about five million people to have a country."

I think the population around 25M at the time.

The companies that can, are offshoring cash and assets as fast as they can.

The companies that can’t offshore assets and cash are buying back stocks, and leveraging themselves out as far as they can.

Those companies that can’t really do either are consolidating at rates that would make the robber barons of the 19th century look conservative.

The fall is coming, and even these rats know when to jump off of a sinking ship.

Unless a Republican is President in which case 200,000 plus jobs a month is “worse economy since Hubert Hoover”.

Spot on. There are lots of things that will change, including the word "unexpectedly". The press always labeled it that as more bad economic news piled up under Obama's policies. You can also expect to hear the Dims begin crowing about the 94+ million Americans out of work...and the record low home ownership...and the national debt...

...and, of course, it'll all be the fault of Republicans.

there are roughly 115m jobs in this country... and 20m+ unemployed

50,000 jobs added monthly would do nothing and would not help recover the economy.

it’s actually less then the number of jobs lost every month. at that rate, overtime, the number of unemployed would just continue to increase

I have seen more shuttered businesses in the last eight years than I can count. Yes, these people are absolutely insane thinking close to a hundred million not working and/or on government assistance with unfettered immigration is great for the country. Welcome to the new normal and a recipe for total pain, agony and no hope for our children’s future (a 22 trillion + dollar price tag!). FUBO and Demrats!

In the US, there are 1283 cities with over 25,000 residents. Kingsville, Texas with 25,575 is 1283.

That works out to 39 new jobs for each city over 25,000.

Not really a bragging point.

How many thousand jobs will be lost due to Obama/Obamacare?

About 3.5 million students are expected to graduate from high school in 2016–17. That’s 291,000 per month if spread over 12 months. To your point, the 50,000 jobs math doesn’t “work”.

Wow, your stats and my basic math shows how feeble the so called job growth is.

OEB's high school graduation total doesn't indicate number continuing on to college. A very large number.

A more accurate picture would be a look at the college grads at all levels for 2016-17 when approximately 3.9 million students with staggering loans attempt to enter the job market at the same time. The doubious 50,000 per month jobs number would produce only 600,000 jobs over a year when the next college cycle matriculates.

What happens to the remaining 3.3 mil of class of 2017?

Source:

NCESNational Center for Education Statistics

Attainment

During the 2016–-17 school year, colleges and universities are expected to award 1,018,000 associate's degrees; 1.9 million bachelor's degrees; 798,000 master's degrees; and 181,000 doctor's degrees (source).

In 2013–14, postsecondary institutions awarded 96,900 certificates below the associate's degree level, 1.0 million associate's degrees, 1.9 million bachelor's degrees, 754,000 master's degrees, and 178,000 doctor's degrees...."

linked source also contains numbers for HS grads consistent with OEB post.

More stats re the lack of jobs.

My wife and I, our now adult children, nephews and nieces all had summer jobs and some of us part time jobs while in high school and college . That was in spite of slow economies. Those jobs enabled us to go to college, trade schools, nursing schools and not put our parents into bankruptcy.

Now, in our grandkid generation, grand nieces and nephews, only one has a good part time job. She teaches dancing 12 hours/week and gets paid very well for it as a high schooler, well over double the hourly minimum in California.

Now adults and many senior citizens are taking the jobs that we had as teenagers, because they can’t find any other work.
