Antonio Santamorena arrived at Ellis Island on March 11, 1905, part of the huddled masses in search of a dream.

Do Trump’s most anti-immigrant rantings reflect a part of who we Americans are, or are they the last gasps of a culture on its way out?

The immigrants that went through Ellis Island played by the rules. Those sneaking across our borders do not. The Ellis Island immigrants had no safety net. No EBT card, no Section 8 housing, no Medicaid. The illegals sneaking in now get free college grants.

Two weeks remaining in these libtard alternate universe fantasies of moral equilivance. There is a cold shower of reality coming.

My father, then aged 8, his two brothers, and their parents passed through Ellis Island in 1912. They had come to this country from Holland. All became citizens following the established rules and laws of that time.

More Bull from the liberal left. We have CONTRIBUTED by referring CONJSTANLY to ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS. A CONTRADICTION IN TERMS. IF YOU ARE ILLEGAL, YOU ARE NOT AN “IMMIGRANT”. YOU ARE AN ILLEGAL ALIEN.

None of Trump’s rhetoric, or the ire of average Americans is directed at immigrants. It’s directed at ILLEGAL ALIENS.

Once you control the rhetoric, you control the argument.

Boy, if Nonno (Grandpa) Santamoreno rose from the grave, he’d slap some sense into you.

My mother was an immigrant. My, and my wife’s maternal grandparents were immigrants. They came from poverty with nothing but the clothes on their backs, built a life and thrived here. Followed the rules. Became citizens. Were proud to be Americans. Never looked back.

For example, compare that to our Somali immigrants: Hate America and its values. No desire to integrate, but happy to take the welfare and the section 8 housing, EBT cards, freebees. Create “no go” zones for the Americans who welcomed them with open arms.

What’s missing? Society’s firm pressure that used to tell immigrants “No freebees - work hard! Learn the language - we’re a melting pot here! Become Americans or get the f**k out!”

My Grandparents came through Ellis Island. They did not sneak across the Mexican border. Do not compare my honest Grandparents to criminal illegal aliens.

They were also sifted there and not all were allowed in.

I remember one story of a family, dad was already in the US with job and mom and kids were joining him. Their oldest daughter is lame, her leg was broken and had healed badly. They were going to refuse her admittance. Mom pleads with them that her daughter may be on a crutch but she is very bright and can already read and write in English and four other languages.

They ask her to prove it. The little girl sat down and wrote a letter to her father with one paragraph in English, one paragraph in Serbian, one paragraph in Greek, one paragraph in Turkish and the final in french.

They decided that she would indeed be an asset to the nation and let her in.
