Trump Drops Bomb at Al Smith Dinner: “Hillary Is So Corrupt… She’s Pretending Not to Hate Catholics”

Trump called out Hillary for her lies and corruption during his speech. He also dropped a few references about the Wikileaks documents

Donald Trump: Hillary is so corrupt. She got kicked off the Watergate Commission. How corrupt do you have to be to get kicked off the Watergate Commission. Pretty corrupt. Hillary is and has been in politics since the 70s. What’s her pitch? The economy is busted. Washington is failing. Vote for me. I’ve been working on these problems for 30 years… We’ve learned so much from Wikileaks. For instance, Hillary believes it’s vital to deceive the people by having one public policy and a totally different policy in private. (Boos) That’s OK. I don’t know who they’re really angry at, Hillary, you or I? Here she is tonight pretending not to hate Catholics.

Of course, his references were to the anti-Catholic Hillary Campaign emails revealed by Wikileaks.

Can’t control himself? I believe his speech was written in advance.

Hillary said that when immigrants see the statue of liberty they see hope but Donald sees a 5.

But Dolan went into it calling for her to apologize for the Catholic comments, which you know she CANNOT do. Trump gave Dolan secular credibility. He called her out in a way real Catholics won’t, out of politeness or fear. If you might not like what a speaker could say, then don’t invite that person....

What Trump did was break past the media embargo about WikiLeaks, the Podesta emails, Haiti, Hillary’s contempt for Catholics, etc.

They are completely embargoing his monster rallies but they can’t hide this. Now they’ll have to cover it. He punked the media again.

I for one admire Donald's restraint.

What Hillary said was in the spirit of the dinner, What Trump did was out of line. I just don’t understand why he keeps playing to his base.

I winced a little too, but resigned to the fact This is Donald, brutally honest. This is what we need at this time. Yes he got boo’d. He didn’t stop.
She got her jabs in too and of course turned on the fake syrupy sincerity at the end, made me puke.
As I watched the after-dinner when guests were leaving, on C-SPAN, it showed Hillary hobnobving, with the likes of Chrissy Matthews, Chuck-U Schumer, etc and showed Donald and Melania quietly leaving out the back with SS detail. I felt sad for him/them. He truly has sacrificed his good standing with the Elites for the sake of We The People. I pray to God he wins - handily, and that he does well and is loved by the millions that have waited for someone to stand up to this corrupt crap.

The tradition of showcasing politicians speak at the Al Smith dinner should end after tonight. This photo is scandalous. Enough.

Well, if his base turns out to be 51% of the voting population that could turn out to be quite sensible.

It is an affront to decency and sanity to even have this event. With what is on the line right now there is nothing served by playing “get along” at a publicity stunt event.

I understand everyone is supposed to get along at The Roast. In another era when the sides weren’t as completely opposed in worldviews it made sense.

Not today.

He only had 3 options:
1) Not go
2) Go and be a soft “get along”
3) Go in hard and hit hard and not worry about overdoing it.

He HAD to go to satisfy the tradition. Not going would have made him look bad. But to soften the blows just to “get along” for the night? How could he? If he went soft we’d all be sitting here wondering if his fire had gone out or if the system was getting to him.

So at this time I’d rather be hearing that he went a little too far. Anything else would just make him look like he is denying the urgency of this election for a laugh or that he has been putting us on and he doesn’t really think the situation in the country is as dire as we believe.

There is simply nothing at all about any of this that lends itself to overly lighthearted humor.

So rather than worry about whether he was gracious to the hosts perhaps instead wonder what the hosts expected by putting them both in the room under these conditions. They quite literally asked for it.

Playing to his base? No. He told it like it is, what most in that room have fought him at every turn to suppress - THEY don’t want everyday AMERICANS to hear what the TRUTH is.

I think you just nailed it.

He was brutal. I will confess to some fleeting doubts myself, but on reflection, I think he did the right thing. He put a lot of issues into play that the media was actively ignoring.

Why oh why does she insist on wearing that hideous jacket over and over again? If I had her money, I’d look stunning all the time.

Moammar Kadaffi was anally raped with a bayonet and Hillary laughed about it. She’s a filthy murderer and destroyer of lives. He treated her with kid gloves imo.

Agree with you 100% and, as a Catholic, I think it’s time — well, long past time, actually — for the Al Smith dinner to jettison the tradition of showcasing politicians at this annual dinner.
