Smithsonian on Why Clarence Thomas is Not in New African American Museum: We Cannot Tell Every Story

(CNSNews.com) – The new Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of African American History and Culture’s tagline is “powerful moments in African American history, culture, and community.” However, the museum – with a $540 million price tag funded 50 percent by U.S. taxpayers and with a collection of more than 36,000 artifacts and 100,000 people represented – doesn’t include many prominent blacks, including Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas and Edward Brooke, a Republican who became the first African American to be elected to the U.S. Senate by popular vote in 1966. After touring the new museum and exploring the website, which contains information on all the exhibitions in it, CNSNews.com asked the Smithsonian why Thomas, Brooke and eight other prominent men and women are not included in the museum. CNSNews.com asked: “Many prominent African Americans are not included in the museum, most notably Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas … Can [the institute say] why Thomas and the others listed below are not a part of the museum exhibits?”

Linda St. Thomas, chief spokesperson for the Smithsonian, replied:

“There are many compelling personal stories about African Americans who have become successful in various fields, and, obviously, Associate Justice Thomas is one of them,” St. Thomas said in an email. “However, we cannot tell every story in our inaugural exhibitions.

“We will continue to collect and interpret the breadth of the African American experience,” St. Thomas said.

The problem is, he’s too uppity. He’s not beholden to the left-wing social promotion system. He made it on his own!

He’s been branded an “Uncle Tom” by the Dems and black grievance industry, so he’ll never be recognized by them for his accomplishment. To the Dems, the only good black is one who’s still on the left’s plantation.

Had Booker Washington been Thomas’s contemporary they’d both be left out. Its for the same reasons Barry Soetoro was GIVEN a Nobel prize.

Why do we even have an AA museum?

Is this just more ‘racial healing’? Does this mean we no longer have to include AA’s in the American History museum?

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but isn’t the CHIEF JUSTICE of the Supreme Court the head of the Smithsonian?

I recall a few years back reading that that was one of the little known jobs tasked to the CJOSC... whether by statute or tradition.... so why can’t John Roberts step up to the plate?!

I suspect that 95% of Americans have ni idea that the first Black Senator was a Republican. Just like a good friend (Black Evangelical)wasn’t aware that it was the REPUBLICANS who pushed through the Civil Rights legislation in the 60’s. The only reason ANY/ALL of this can happen is our lying Media......they lie, cheat and steal to brainwash younger Americans to believe Republicans are pure evil and have no redeeming social qualities. The Fourth Estate is Hillary’s Fifth Column.

Here is a quote from George Washington Carver, an exceptionally adept scientist who happens to have been of African decent.

God cannot use you as He wishes until you come into the fullness of His Glory. Do not get alarmed, my friend, when doubts creep in. That is old Satan. Pray, pray, pray.

His quote leads me to believe that he will also be left out of the Smithsonian's new exhibit.

How many deservingly dead black criminals did they feature? Is there a “shot by police or whitey in self-defense” section? Is Trayvon there, or Michael Brown?

He is a BLACK SUPREME COURT JUSTICE!!!!

How the hell do you leave him out?

1. He's not the first one so, ho- hum.

2. He's off the plantation, so he's not authentically black.

Someone needs to spray paint “who is Clarence Thomas” on the side of the building.

With all due respect, good intent but poor choice of actions. Spray painting the building is vandalism. But a very large banner appearing overnight would serve the same function. And phone calls to all the news services giving them a heads up that "Something's up at the African American Museum". Don't tell 'em what or they won't show.
