Protests follow Scott Walker on campaign trail [2015 Scott Foval article on 'bird-dogging']

When Gov. Scott Walker steps onto a "soapbox'" stage Monday morning at the Iowa State Fair, he can count on at least one thing.

People will protest.

[SNIP]

...there's the unpredictability, disruption and touch of chaos that protests can inject into his campaign events.

The day after the Aug. 6 GOP debate, Walker was besieged by 60 sidewalk protesters as he ate corned beef and spoke to patrons and reporters inside a cramped Cleveland deli.

"Hey hey, ho ho, union busters got to go," demonstrators chanted, two of them on stilts, one in an oversized "Scott Walker, Koch puppet" costume.

It didn't compare to the mass protests in Madison during Walker's first-term fight over collective bargaining...

But it was a bigger, more boisterous demonstration than the campaign was used to and drew reinforcements from the Cleveland police. Walker aides appeared a little disconcerted. Nine cops carved out an exit path as Walker left the building amid noisy jeers of "Boo! Boo! Shame on you!"

"I think this was the first time outside of Wisconsin where he's been kind of surrounded by protesters as he's leaving a place and where it appears he's been a little boxed in," said Scott Foval, one of the protesters and a Madison activist with the liberal group People for the American Way.

Foval's group is one of several on the left that flock to events by GOP candidates and try to make them answer questions on their issues of choice.

"We're bird-dogging all of them," Foval said. But he said Walker is a "particular" magnet because of the way he wears their hostility as a badge of honor.

"A lot of people are spooked by him. He has been running on this (theme of) 'Oh, they protest me. I'm the toughest governor,'" Foval said.

Craig Gilbert is (was?) the Washington Bureau Chief of the Journal Sentinel. The Beltway MSM has known for a LONG time about the Democrats' openly hostile "bird dogging"...yet most journalistic venues have refused to dig deeper & expose their tactics for what they are...OR, they know & cover it up.

The MSM has become the enemy of everyday people.

Amazing. But not surprising.

Thanks for posting this.
