Luntz Shares His 5-Point Plan for Trump Debate Success
FOX ^ | October 17, 2016 | staff

Posted on 10/17/2016 9:52:02 AM PDT by bgill

Trump must present a "forensic audit" of the federal budget. Trump should announce who he would appoint to key positions like secretary of state and secretary of defense. Number three, he needs to talk about Hillary Clinton in terms of more than three decades in Washington, D.C. Did you get the change you want? Did you get the change you deserve? Fourth ... he must pivot away from allegations of sexual misconduct. "He's not winning when he's defending. He needs to move off of that." Lastly, Luntz said, he needs to present himself as the candidate of change, the one to shake up Washington to its core.

1. Trump must present a "forensic audit" of the federal budget.
2. Trump should announce who he would appoint to key positions like secretary of state and secretary of defense.
3. Trump needs to talk about Hillary Clinton in terms of more than three decades in Washington, D.C. Did you get the change you want? Did you get the change you deserve?
4. Trump must pivot away from allegations of sexual misconduct. "He's not winning when he's defending. He needs to move off of that."
5. Trump needs to present himself as the candidate of change, the one to shake up Washington to its core.

Can't disagree with any of the above other than number 5. He needs to make it clear why his "change" is to reinstate American liberty, leadership, power, and standing in the World. Hillary claims he wants America to go backwards.

Trump needs to address what made America great and the envy of the World, not to mention copied time and again. Now those same nations look at us and laugh or dismayed that the USA is no longer "The Shining City on the Hill". The USA has become a shadow of itself and kows to our known and potential enemies. The World became a better place from our original concepts of liberty, limited government, an equal opportunity. Now it is self-destructing from the lack of our strong leadership and direction.

Geeze, make me his speech writer or many on this board.

Agree with the comments. Trump needs to show he will be the President who will fix all these problems. Not mired in the mud with Hillary.

What’s wrong with his advice?

Stay on message
Focus on issues facing the country
Discipline
Stop responding to every negative press release or coverage

Plenty more but you get the point..right?

Points three and five are his best bet. I don’t think he can give a detailed analysis of the budget and naming cabinet figures could be seen as presumptuous. Pivoting away from the sexual misconduct charges would be difficult since Clinton will harp on them. But asking her about change during her time in D.C. and presenting himself as the change architect that she could never be might be very effective.

Thank you for your thumbs up but I should have included in my post...”and don’t insult my intelligence and the American public by trying to defend yourself against the indefensible”

I think we all know the anything along those lines the Fox Weasel will instantly get all puffed up and indignant and TRY to defend himself and his ‘fair and balanced’ network.

Most of these sexual misconduct charges are so old they should be countered by “So, you could have hit me up for a lot of money back then. Why did you wait until now?”

Frank Luntz is always introduced as a "Republican pollster". That's all I know...

If neither side trusts him, he's probably doing it right!

Hillary claims he wants America to go backwards.

She's right in this sense: He wants us to go back to when our enemies feared us and our allies, even if they didn't especially like us, trusted and respected us.

Dems want TRUMP’S people identified early. They will want to perform operations research as early as possible on any appointee in order to release negative items at a steady drip-drip-drip after appointee is in office. (Character assassination can take time if only mild negatives are available.) And we all know that Rats and their media allies feel a Trump Administration MUST be destroyed at all costs. Also, I think the call for Trump to allow Rat media charges to go unanswered and “stick to the issues” is a bit misguided. Unanswered charges can be inflated by the drive-by media to seem valid.

Trump has been saying this, even said it at the last ambush [aka debate].

95% of Americans think we are a democracy. When I run into this foolishness, I challenge those to do a search on the word or a derivative of it in our Constitution.

Luntz belongs in the same receptacle with Rove.

At the end of the week put it out on the curb for pickup.

Why do you not post all he advocates?

Should Trump be a proponent of PBS/NPR?

Should Trump be in favor of US involvement and financing of the UN?

Should Trump be opposed to cutting off funding for abortion?

Should Trump call solid constitutional conservative congressmen “a disgrace to this body?”

Should Trump join Noot and Nancy on her couch?

Advice is not always what we think it should be.

Caution is always appropriate.

I think and you probably already know that Newt was talking about the issues in front of him RIGHT NOW. As far as I know Nancy Pelosi is not an issue in the campaign nor is PBS. We know what he thinks of the UN and abortion funding. Everyone wants every issue covered in all the debates - there was screaming after the first one because thus and so was not covered. NOR will everything be covered in the last one. Newt’s advice is simple - don’t make it complicated. If you don’t like Newt, say so. Don’t set up straw man arguments.

OK, if you know he favors the UN, and PBS and other outrageous things, why do you think he should be trusted?

Are you voting for Newt in this election? Maybe you want to be sure who is running before you mark a ballot!!

Our exchange has had nothing to do with who we are voting for, so don’t try to change the subject.

The last thing we need is for Noot to turn our win into a loss like he did in ‘95 and ‘96 on every foundational issue.
