I would think there would be security video on this

Weapon with a Drum magazine? That sounds like a Chicago Typewriter and that ain't no assault weapon. A trench Gun yes, but not an assault weapon. ( Thompson .45 with a 50 round magazine )

Hopefully things will stay kind of quiet here.
We don’t usually get rioters here.

They make drums for EVERYTHING nowadays.
You can even get one for a Glock pistol.
Could’ve been”
AR-15 type
AK-47/AK-74 type
Saiga shotgun (30rnd drum)
The list goes on...

There are drum magazines for AR-15 style rifles. They don’t work very well.

AK had an 80 round drum mag, works wonderful, can shoot, rest, shot some more, rest, shoot some more, and rest, then shoot some more, without reloading.
Used to be able to pick them up at the gun show, have been outlawed in CA for about 10-15 years.

"Saiga shotgun (30rnd drum"
I saw a video of a guy shooting a shotgun with a drum magazine and it seem like the thing jammed about every fourth shot. Same with the AK

Gads, what a poorly written article.

You can get drum magazines for AKs and ARs. Since the gun malfunctioned I’ll say most likely an AR or poor cleaning habits.

WASR 10, check. Romanian 75 round drum, check. Body armor, check. Slidefire, check.
Take off upper wood forestock so it don’t catch on fire, check.
First round jam—dayum!

My Norinco MAK-90 functions flawlessly with the 75-rd drum. You just have to know how to load it properly and get the spring wound up fully.

Then that sucker would definitely put out some awesome suppressive fire.

Gads, what a poorly written article.

Not in ‘their’ minds.
They managed to include ‘assault weapon’, ‘negative cop’, got to call an (attempted)assassin a ‘suspect’ —all in one sentence.

It depends on the drum.
The Saiga shotgun is very popular (over $1000) and more and more aftermarket companies are making magazines and drums. Some of them are really cheap. I’ve shot some Saiga drums that work flawlessly, while the cheaper models could barely cycle a single round.

We used to go to Sea Food City on Redwood all the time, over near Mare Island. I always thought Vallejo was a dump, though there were nice homes on the east side of I-80.

Perhaps if the officers would have offered the man a Starbucks coffee of his choice, this wouldn’t have happened.
