Levin: Staying home on Election Day? Don't pretend you're doing the 'moral' thing
CR ^ | October 10, 2016 | Phil Shiver

Posted on 10/15/2016 10:00:09 AM PDT by conservative98

“I’m starting to think about this morality stuff,” Conservative Review Editor-in-Chief Mark Levin said as he began his radio show Monday night. “Everything we do should involve morality … but let me ask you a question: If you were alive during George Washington’s times, would you have voted for George Washington?”

Levin then went on to list the moral failings of past politicians from the slave-owning founders, to the adulterous John F. Kennedy, to Bill Clinton himself, and so on.

“I’m not defending Donald Trump,” Levin exclaimed. “I’m trying to understand hypocrisy.” Referring to the Republican lawmakers that have since dropped their support for Donald Trump following the release of a 2005 video where Trump makes lewd remarks about women.

Levin never gave approval to what Trump said in the 2005 audio tape, in fact, he called it “disgusting” and “pathetic.” But he made clear he did not intend to join the “RINOs” who are using it as an excuse for pulling their support.

At the close of the clip, Levin declared, “It is NOT the moral and principled thing to do to stand down in this election ... It is NOT the conservative thing to do to stand down in this election.”

“I am truly hoping that he means what he says but that doesn’t mean we don’t raise strong objections when he strays from conservatism at the price of getting more votes.”

As am I. We are all taking a risk when we place our trust in another person and then give them power over us.

Personally, it’s a risk that I would rather not take anymore. I do not believe that man can be trusted with power over other men, as man has proven himself to be corrupt.

However, this is still our system, so we must do this.

In the case of the GOP, they have demonstrated time after time that they are not worthy of our trust. They are liars, known, obvious and demonstrable liars.

So I have turned to this unproven quantity, in terms of politics, Donald Trump. I take this leap and place my trust and power in him, because he has not yet shown or proven himself to be a liar to me. I can give him the benefit of the doubt and take him at his word at this time. It is a risk, no doubt, but it must be taken.

And yes, we should absolutely raise strong objections if he strays from what he said and what we know to be honorable at any time.

We shouldn’t allow ourselves to become a cult of personality, that is not a good thing.

But honestly, Americans really have no choice but to go outside of the norm of our political parties and their standard operating procedure as they have proven beyond any reasonable doubt that they are total failures and actually enemies of America and Americans.

Take it easy, Jarhead9297. Thank you kindly for the repsonse, and God bless America.

What Levin is saying now is something that a more intelligent man could have been saying months ago.

Also, if he really cares who wins, and not just whether his consience is clear, then he would find a way to shut up when stating his opinions would tend to cause others to do exactly the opposite of what he has decided to do.

My opinion of Levin has plummeted throughout this mess. Where would Levin be today if Bernie had defeated Hillary? Would he be supporting the other Democrat communist? Or staying home on election day?

It's the Supreme Court, stupid!

Nah. It’s more a case of prissy Trump critics spending their time gazing at their navels and sniffing at the lack of purity in those who know that this election is a fight that will decide the future of the West.

So instead of manning up and joining the fight use their energy making snarky comments.

I think he was.

Any word he speaks to me from his self sullied and self weakened position as if I need his advice constitutes a lecture.

Mark Levin is not my friend.

Shivving the candidate while he’s already fighting a multi-front war while saying out the other side of his mouth to support him doesn’t help. Save the “accountability” till we’re actually in a position to hold him accountable for anything since we know Hillary’s idea of accountability will be giving us the finger.

But it’s fine to trash Trump for the better part of a year, and offer rewards for hunting down “Sundance.”

In my neck of the woods, this statement is not a whine. It is the truth.

I don't think he was lecturing you, but whatever.

I think he was.

There ARE too many conservatives out there who are sitting on the sidelines this election cycle because their candidate lost and Trump won. I too think that these sideline sitters are acting immoral and not conservative.

We need every vote that we can get for Trump to defeat Hillary. I find Levin's comment to be appropriate and what is needed to be said, to millions of conservatives who are standing down.

Again, “It is NOT the moral and principled thing to do to stand down in this election ... It is NOT the conservative thing to do to stand down in this election.”

BINGO!

Perhaps you should pay more attention when you see the word, “but.” (I don’t mean it in a negative way—just sayin’. Try it as an experiment for a couple of weeks).

If NeverTrumpers like a Lying Ted and his disciples cost us this election and all those USSC picks then he’ll never be elected outside of TX ever again.
I’ll happily and actively work against him if he’s running but Extremely helpful going forward

Yeah, you followed your principles, did ya? And they’ve allowed the greatest nation on earth to become a corrupt, socialist, debtor nation that can’t even tell the difference between a man and a woman. If your principles got us this, then what the hell good are they?

Time to try something different. If Hillary wins, your principles won’t matter for the next few decades anyhow, as her activist Supreme Court won’t even know they exist.

I’ll never stay home but I’ll never vote for a liberal either. New Jersey will never vote for a Republican.

I do NOT think it was disgusting and pathetic.

Nor do I, and it certainly was NOT “lewd.” What movie, sit com, t.v. show, rap music, or novel does not eclipse this little locker room talk by miles and miles??????????

The weak minded hysteria this tape has generated is beyong the pale. What ever happened to the American backbone and common sense?
