They will be given political asylum in the USA and tons of benefits unless Trump is victorious.

Communists, drug cartels , and MOZLUMS terrorists are only defeated by scorched earth campaigns including death squads.

“Press” enemy sympathizers are fair game.

I don’t really like the CSM calling CDO City a run down port city ,, It’s quite nice... but I am pleased to know that Duterte is hitting the muzzies there...

I can’t believe the support for this brutal maniac. Brutally murdering poor people just because they use drugs? Evil.

I don’t trust this dictator. A muslim political party, Ummah, supported this criminal during his campaign. So why is he claiming to be against islamists?

Hopefully his dictatorship will be short. Thank god I don’t live in the Philippines.

Apparently you don't live in any of the Muslim countries either.

“Apparently you don’t live in any of the Muslim countries either.”

No and thank god I don’t. I hate islam and believe that radical islamics should be wiped off the face of the Earth.

I just don’t like Duterte. How can you cheer for a maniac who brutally slaughters his own people just because they do drugs?? That’s insane.

I find it interesting that he claims to be going after Islamist rebels since he enjoyed the support of muslims during his campaign.

Back during the summer, he even offered peace to the Abu Sayyaf rebels. Now, all of a sudden, he claims to be going after them? I don’t trust him.

Also remember that Duterte himself has muslim ancestry. His support among the Ummah political party and his past actions give me pause.

Duterte is also cozying up to China, so don’t give me this crap about him being some freedom loving leader. He is far from that.

The only thing he has done right was to insult Obama. I admit, I enjoyed that. But i can’t condone his brutal actions and I just don’t trust him at all.

I knew that I would get criticism from his fan club but I don’t care. I’m afraid that he will ally himself with the rebels instead of eliminating them.

How could the authorities in Singapore cane someone for chewing gum?

Because it’s their country and they get to make the rules.

Military roadblocks are not common in the Philippines.

Huh?

Shortly BEFORE 911, I took a bus, with my fiancée, from Cagayan de Oro to Davao, and IIRC, we were stopped @ 2 roadblocks, along the way, one of which was a bit scarier, as all the men were ordered to get off the bus, while it was searched, and we were searched. (The search of me was pretty "light" I'd say.) But being stopped by heavily armed soldiers in Mindano is still a bit spooky, as criminals and rebels sometimes acquire military uniforms and equipment to get vehicles to stop...

Granted, I never ran into anything like this elsewhere in RP (just the armed guards at any "name" storefront, etc.) But these (roadblocks) were not in a particularly dangerous (Muslim) part of Mindano, at that time.

We used to shoot people who stole money. Stagecoach robberies often led to “Wanted, Dead or Alive” posters.

What sane country could ever allow any and everyone to kill a simple robber? He didn’t hurt any one. He just wanted money.

I understand your perspective, but it is perfectly civilized to kill a wanted, bad person.

American troops were fighting Muslims in the Philippines over a century ago, but the conflict has been going on there since Islam arrived there in the 14th century.

Caning someone is completely different than murdering them.

Don’t you think drug treatment for addicts would be more constructive than slaughtering them?

I have known people who are former drug addicts who got clean and went on to live meaningful lives. Good thing they didn’t live under Duterte’s regime or they wouldn’t have received that opportunity.

You seem to be lacking the willingness to accept the point.

The people elected him to do a job. He’s doing it, in his own country with his own people’s backing.

You don’t like it go join Peace Corp and go stop him.

Bleeding hearts infect the world.

Just because I oppose his insane massacres of drug addicts, I’m a bleeding heart? Okay, whatever makes you feel better.

FYI, anyone who knows me knows that I’m as far from a bleeding heart as you can get. I just have a problem with killing innocent people.

Yes, it’s his country and he was elected, which reflects very poorly on the citizens of the Philippines.

This moron has become a god-like figure to some on FR and I can’t figure out why.

You are right in that he is not trustworthy and could redirect such power in dangerous ways, but that is a different problem than having your police and military attack and kill identified bad elements.

The druggies are people who have been warned, buy illegal material, use illegal drugs, and then often commit crimes to help keep those drugs coming and become a huge social burden themselves and with those affected by their behavior.
