It isn’t a winning strategy but it is very therapeutic; I’ve received several promotions and performance bonuses over the years busting my hump, and if the company has money to give entertainment types/toys they can pay me for the bare minimum. At this point “moving up the corporate ladder” wouldn’t fit my semi-retired lifestyle; I just need to keep this up for another 20 years or so.
I’m no longer working my tail off so someone else can take credit and get money for it; my job security comes from being a capable worker.
