NBC News ^ | 10/12/16

A federal judge ordered Florida election officials to extend the state's voter registration deadline to October 18, in response to damage and disruption caused by Hurricane Matthew.

The state's original deadline was October 11.

Florida Democrats and the state's League of Women Voters asked the judge for the extension. Gov. Rick Scott initially refused to push back the deadline, saying late last week, "Everybody has had a lot of time to register."

Legislatures, laws, states' rights to set their own deadlines as authorized by the Constitution....all just fodder.

The federal judge has sat on the perch of the tree of knowledge, and just wipes it all away.

Absolutely DISGUSTING.

Laws apparently only apply when they favor the interests of the state...

A perfect example of pure judicial tyranny.

Not to worry.

We can rely on the Republican-controlled Congress, led by Paul Ryan, to impeach this Constitution-trashing judge. /MAJOR SARC

“yes, it is, but don’t forget, Trump supporters will be registering also.”

But only one time each.

The obvious reason they are doing it is that Clinton has a voter registration drive and Trump does not. That is the downside of running a barebones campaign.

I’m curious...

Let’s say )solely as an example) that Gov. Scott tells the federal judge “I’m sorry but we consider registration closed and will not aide by your ruling”.

What could the judge do to compel Florida to abide by his ruling? Send Federal agents in to arrest the Governor? Impose financial sanctions against the state?

Anyone wanna take a stab at this?

Or Clinton has a voter-fraud-registration scheme in the works, and Trump does not. See if the dump in thousands of dead voter registrations on the last day.

I don’t know what the consequence would be, but it seems to be a brilliant idea, IMHO.

Florida’s government should simply refuse. It is states, not the fedgov, that determines the rules of its elections.

And what happens if Florida refuses to follow this dictator’s orders?

You’re right, the 10th Amendment is a mere nuisance for these anti-American federalista judges. If we’re no longer governed by the rule of law we are a banana republic.

If the hurricane would have hit the panhandle they wouldn’t have extended. Only extended because it was democrat counties.

1 week extension for a storm that lasted a few hours.

Gov. Scott should plainly state that the date was set working backward from the election date to give them time to review the validity of the applications, enter them into their databases, and then print out all the precinct roll books and distribute them to the polling places.

It is logistically impossible to extend the registration period and st be ready by election day, and therefore he is issuing an executive order to disregard the ruling and close the registration period as originally planned.

The judge couldn’t do a Gdamn thing. The muslim brotherhood in charge of these judicial ativists would try to punish the state with some sort of cut in financial aid.

It’s high time the states ignore any of these unconstitutional rulings. This judicial tyranny has really taken off in the last twenty years.

Someone needs to compile all the federal tyrant rulings against the states over the years.
