The Russian military plans to expand its supply base in Syria into a fully-fledged permanent naval base. The Russian facility in Tartus has long been used to resupply Russian warships during Mediterranean Sea missions.

"We are going to have a permanent Navy base in Tartus. We have prepared the paperwork, which is now being reviewed by other government agencies. The documents are pretty much ready, so we hope to submit them to you for ratification soon," General Nikolay Pankov, deputy defense minister responsible for communication with other parts of the Russian government, told the Federation Council, Russia’s senate.

1300 kilometers from Istanbul, Tek. How long would it take an armored division to cover that distance?

The USA waited too late to go into Aleppo. Hillary even admitted that last night.

Why are Hillary and Obama all concerned now? Where was this concern when hundreds of thousands of Christians were being slaughtered? Genocide was taking place under their noses and they did nothing. They talk tougher against the Russians than they do isis.

Finally we see an obvious inidication of the Russians' real goal. So obvious that even the most obtuse can see it. This was always about establishing a dependent sattellite. This never had anything to do with ISIS.

The Russians cleaned our clocks on this one, plain and simple. We need to just admit that and move on.

The Russians were protecting an ally. I believe that we would have done the same.

Hillary wants to reestablish the cold war. She and obama are blind to our (or what should be) war with ISIS.

In the end, the Russians said, “Checkmate, obama and hillary. Both looked like fools.

They had that in the Black Sea already, especially after annexation of Crimea, but the Bosporus and Dardanelles made it a bit dicey in case of regional conflict. Now they have a free and open Mediterranean port, compliments of Obama.

The Black Sea is on the wrong side of the Bosphorus Strait. Russia needs a place to dump into if their ships get stuck in the Med.
