Some groups of people are almost always highly successful given only half a chance (Jews*, Hindus/Sikhs and Chinese people, for example), while others (Muslims, blacks** and Roma***, for instance) fare badly almost irrespective of circumstances. The biggest group of humanity can be found somewhere between those two extremes – the perennial overachievers and the professional never-do-wells.

I have no issue with the fact of Jewish intelligence compared to many in the world. BUT the article seems to rely too much on the Nobel Prize as a marker.

There is no denying Jewish brilliance, it is what drives the crazies in Islam more insane than they already were. That is why they say that their cultural failure is because of the Jews. This is the same crap to Obama peddles to the blacks in the US.

The issue is culture.
Appalachian whites do poorly, and the part of the UK they came from had a higher rate of illegitimacy and crime than much of England - centuries ago.
Chinese families emphasize work and academics to advance and succeed in every society where property rights and commerce enable it, which is proof that communism / totalitarianism is a strong suppressor of economic growth to hold down such a culture in poverty.
The blacks who adopt white culture succeed and rise to the middle class, marrying to raise children, valuing academics. The ones with the arguably southern/Appalachian culture that supports illegitimacy, punishes academic achievement while rewarding bravado (gang bangers, sports, showmanship) suffer.
Too many Jews have taken the commandment to do good in the world as instructions to support socialism so the state can do all the things they couldn’t do personally, since it will tap into much more money and has the power to force others to live as they think best.
In contrast, the Jewish Havdalah service, where you seek to start the next work week, meet your family’s needs and have the cup run over to benefit everyone else, is part of why Jews in general have such a strong entrepreneurial skill set. (Per Rabbi Lapin’s book, Thou Shalt Prosper) For them, commerce is ethical and good, whereas for Muslims, it is more ethical to rob than sell at a mark-up to others. For Christians, trade wasn’t bad but interest was. But both cultures gave Jews a position as a middle man and shop owner that could make you rich.
That said, middlemen in all societies are prone to slaughter, whether Chinese in Indonesia and Pacific Rim outside of China, Lebanese in Africa, Jews everywhere.

I understand middle men and their function. I worked for 2 privately held wholesale hardware distribution companies, for 35+ years. Both were family owned by Christians families.
