Was looking at refurb win 7 laptops, but too many reviews said things were missing, etc.

A new Dell machine sounds a lot better, my ancient XP Dell laptop is slow as heck and not going to last forever.

I first started using computers, when we had DOS. I forgot all of that very quickly, when the Web, and all the New Stuff came along.

I don’t know much about Linux yet - I’m not very tech-savvy. But it works for me, as far as I use it now. And it seems to have a lot of interesting stuff to learn, in future.

Again, I resented the sneakiness of being forced into 10, when we were very happy with what we had. It has permanently soured me on MS. They could have just said, “If you don’t upgrade to 10, 7 will eventually go away. Make a choice.” And people would be free to make a choice.

I like choice.

If you didn’t type the write command to print it would print about 150 pages of complete computer nonsense characters. Bare in mind, we were alloted 300 pages of printing per semester. So you had to go gather your enormous pile of character giborish and take it to the snarky IT guy...who looked at you like your an idiot...to get the copies taken off your alotment.

Those guys are here on this post! /sarc

I don’t go to any shady websites, and if anyone wants to spy on me, I think they are going to be awfully bored.

I mean, I guess they can watch me type stuff on FR, or they can watch me read stuff on Drudge or UFC.com, or they can watch me play Darkest Dungeon or this other nifty racing game I have, but beyond that... zzzz.

Since you don't do anything with your computer but play games in yor mom's basement, why would anyone want your opinion?    :)

I’m not a Bernie supporter.

And what else is there to do on PC besides play games? I read news and watch youtube videos on dogs, MMA, surfing, exercises, skating and music.

I suppose I could watch p0rn, but don’t care about it, so no point.

They can take my disk from my nerd hands.

AMD guy here. Happy with my inexpensive build.

A10 6800k APU (on-board graphics turned off), RX 460, 500GB HDD, 64GB SSD, 400W PSU, Cooler Master Hyper T2 heatsink, Gigabyte mobo.

I like to nerd out on PC hardware.

Just thought I'd let that sink in among the sentient beings here.

Okay, dog, whatever.

If there is something you like doing on PC, knock yourself out.

I like doing stuff outside, and when I’m inside, I play games on my PC. I’m playing one right now.

Don’t like it? Sue me.

I just hate Microsoft intrusiveness, if open source gains upper hand they will probably be just as bad.

All you need to do is download a version of Linux directly to a thumb drive.

FYI... You can run Linux and Windows on the same machine.

There are a ton on video’s on you tube about Linux.

Improviser: if you have specialty sofeware it may not run or you are on your own to research how it might be made to work.

If your into gaming: Linux won’t work for you! Forget it!

That said, I have a laptop running Linux Mint and I could hand it to a grandmother at the cup cakes social and she’s have your email and be browsing the web in 30 seconds.
