Upon introducing the bill, Democratic Assemblywoman Shirley Brown argued that civic participation would reduce the recidivism rate.

Democrats need names on the voter rolls... they don’t give a damn if felons vote. If the name is there - they’ll vote ‘for them’...

What is in the constitution about this?

Sorry Mods, I screwed up the title, can you change it to “California Governor Signs Bill Giving Felons Right to Vote?”

The article says the California Constitution does not allow felons to vote. But Hey, since when does that matter?

It is the constitution that stands. Congress shall make no law...

I understand that this is nothing but a blatant political move to generate more Dem voters, but I do think a case canbe made for restoring voting rights to felons. It would be after a suitable probationary period following their release from prison. Any criminal activity during that time would negate the possibility of regaining voting rights. A person who fomits a crime, serves his sentence and then returns to the community and proves to be a productive member of society should not be punished forever.

I do suspect that the number of people to whom this might apply would be small. The idea thar restoration of voting rights will lower recidivism is BS.

Democrap gold standard, 1) a warm body encounters a Democrap vote registrar, 2) Registrar enters name on voting roles and says to ‘body’ that they are a good person and that they need do NOTHING MORE, 3) Democrap votes straight ticket FOREVER! Felon, non-citizen, idiot Democrap (but I repeat myself), all are voting the Party Ticket!

Now here are a couple of queries for Assemblywoman Shirley Brown; 1) What ‘research’ shows a lower recidivism rate and who paid for the study? 2) If someone has committed voter fraud and been convicted, are they eligible to vote under your SCHEME?

Its significant that both Dems and Repubs assume that felons will favor the Democratic Party. Similarly, Dems assume that illegals, once they start voting, will vote Democrat. And I don’t think anyone disputes that.

And, of course, we all know that dead people vote Democrat.

James O’Keefe did an interesting video. There are databases of registered voters who don’t normally vote. He had a copy of the database and easily went in and asked for ballots in the name of people on the list. The only time he failed was when an older couple, in violation of the law, insisted on seeing his ID. So, yes, you can imagine that dead people vote Democrat as well.

I've followed and used crime stats for 20 yrs to fight a murderer's early parole, he murdered my 16 year old developmentally delayed son just for the jollies to see what it felt like to kill. Plead M1 down to M2 and 20 yrs of which I forced him to serve 12.5 till he maxed out his 'good behavior' time. This POS is an IDIOT! Rehab rate is less than 30%.

That’s terrible. I am very sorry for your loss. People who think our system is too harsh, should have to view it from your position.

If they knew half what prisoners are allowed not just in Kali which we know allows way to much, they be having a cow.

My friend had her 8 year old daughter beaten, raped, strangled with her own shoe laces, wrapped/tied in a blanket and dumped off a dock where she drown, perv perp has been sitting on TN Death Row for 20+ yrs all appeals done and our RINO gov won’t sign the death warrant. DR prisoners in TN have their own cable TV, education, healthcare, easy chairs, personal tv/radio, all kinds of rec available all at tax payers expense. And you travel to the site the inmate is housed when they have parole hearings at your expense. Same goes for all those appeal hearings Debbie had to attend. Still waiting for the perp to be put down, we volunteered to go push the needle.
