Hillary Clinton Struggles to Win Back Young Voters From Third Parties
The New York Times ^ | 28 September 2016 | JEREMY W. PETERS and YAMICHE ALCINDOR

Posted on 09/29/2016 7:44:49 AM PDT by Theoria

With just six weeks to go until Election Day, younger voters are shunning the two major political parties on a scale not seen since Ross Perot’s third-party bid for the presidency in 1992, a striking swing in public opinion that is slicing into Hillary Clinton’s thin margin for error.

Though young people are notoriously fickle about showing up at the polls, they are a growing and potentially pivotal bloc of voters. Millennials now outnumber baby boomers as the country’s largest generation. And while they may be more predisposed than other groups to vote Democratic, they are not moving toward the party and its nominee as quickly and predictably as they have in past elections.

The Clinton campaign held several events on Wednesday aimed at millennials, underscoring the urgency with which she and her team are working to lock down the group: about 75 million Americans. Mrs. Clinton traveled to New Hampshire with her former primary rival, Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont, for a rally with college students.

The first lady, Michelle Obama, spent the day visiting campuses in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh. She had blunt words for anyone thinking about voting for a third party. “If you vote for someone other than Hillary, or if you don’t vote at all,” she said, “then you are helping to elect Hillary’s opponent.”

Though Mrs. Clinton is riding high after a strong debate performance on Monday, during which she explicitly mentioned issues, like climate change, that appeal to the young, she has a lot of ground to make up.

Several factors are complicating the immense task of registering and turning out millennials, the 18- to 34-year-olds who are already hard to reach because their media consumption habits do not lend themselves to traditional television-focused campaigns.

Why wouldn’t a 1% corrupt old grandma energize a 20 year old to go vote??

I imagine they figure that she’s just too old, sickly and frail to be their president. They don’t want a president who could croak at any time during one of her many screeches. They probably also don’t want to pay the quarter of a million dollar fee for her to give State of the Union screeches.

Blacks and young people put Obama into office against republican opponents who never could fire up republican voters. 2016 polling models (for what they are worth) are using 2008 and 2012 turnout assumptions.

Not even the NYTs believes Clinton is going to get blacks and young people to match Obamas turnout. Far from it. So what does that say about using election turnout from 2008 and 2012 as an accurate predictor to base 2016 polling data on?

It’s not the black vote that Clinton needs to worry about. It’s the making up for the lost votes with cheating that will do her in. To win PA, she needs 110% of the vote in Philly. The more blacks that choose not to support her, the higher that number needs to be.

Of course they hate her, why would any young person want anything to do with an old granny considered the most dishonest woman in America?...

Where are all the OCCUPY WALL STREET protesters? Where is the 99%?

Hillary is getting her money from these people and foreign nations. Why isn’t Trump talking about this?

Occupy Wall Street was a creation of democrats but it is democrats that are enriching themselves from Wall Street.

The Bernie and OCCUPY WALL STREET people are hypocrites if they vote for Hillary.

Has Hillary Been Caught Cheating (Again)?

I’ve just discovered that you can speed youtube up twice as fast and that’s what I just did.
I didn’t watch the entire debate at double speed, but about three quarters of it and I saw that;

The light on hillary’s lectern was on from before she got to it in the beginning.

The few cut-away shots revealed the same thing ... the light is always on.

BTW ... at the beginning of the debate is the only time you can see Trump’s lectern where the light should be (every other time his elbow and L arm cover too much) ... and there is no light.

I conclude that the light for hillary is on from before start to after finish and it is part of that blue glasses/blue light thingy that went around here a week or so ago.

I think it was an electronic wave of some sort to keep her from passing out, coughing, losing her grip ... whatever ... but it is suspiciously on from the time her eyes are in the lectern until after the eyes leave.

Couple that observation with all those electronic gadgets that were retrieved from her lectern after the debate and I conclude she was artificially supported FOR the debate

“a striking swing in public opinion that is slicing into Hillary Clinton’s thin margin for error.”

ya just gotta love how in just a few short weeks the enemedia has had to go from “guaranteed Hillary landslide” to fretting about Hillary’s razor thin margin for error!

You just said something that makes Trump far more palatable than anything I've heard before.

Trump IS a third-party candidate. Running against the two-party system from inside the beast. And he's KILLING it. Maybe the only way it can be killed.

You've lent a whole new appreciation for the situation and I thank you for it.

Spread the Joy. Tump 2016, taking down both tired old establishment parties.

Either a raspberry or middle finger to DNC and old RNC country club goers, depending on your style. THAT is selling in the heartland.

Yeah, man. That is, like, so uncool. The Donald is, like, a capitalist exploiter, and he plays privilege games, like golf and tennis. You can’t have a habitual golfer in the people’s house. That would be a...(whisper whisper whisper)...I mean, a habitual white golfer. Black men playing golf is, like, invading their privileged world. But white men playing golf, is, like reenforcing their privilege. Of course, if an enlightened white man helps black men to get into a country club...(whisper whisper)...Anyway, Hillary doesn’t play golf. She just falls down every now and then, which doesn’t connote any special privilege, so she’s less bad than that evil racist Donald Trump./s
